Description
Siccopulmonae isa group of Capillozoan organisms that: breathe without water, with the gas exchanges occurring on specialized air sacs; presence of endoskeleton for support or organs and limbs; presence of two “galeas”, that are structures similar to a neurocranium.
They present the largests organisms among the Sclerognatha, with some defining traits:
1. A pair of antennae with two eyes at the end of it, each eye containing two transparent lens that are shed multiple times in their lives;
2. Large and specialized ears to capture vibrations and variation of pressure in the air;
3. Highly adaptable jaws of the Tetragnatha group;
4. Large and long tubular noses that are swung in the air with the help of muscular discs, capturing particles within the olfactory pores to be processed by the olfactory nerve.
The endoskeleton of the group is composed of a dense and entangled “hair” tissue, and while some parts are completely “ossified”, most of it are not completely fused, giving it far more malleability than the skeleton of vertebrates on Terra.
Their upper jaw has evolved on one of their galeas, and it hosts a pair of specialized eyes that can detect the spectrum of infrared light.
Their reproduction is similar to the Enodocrura, though they do not produce the protein serum of the mentioned group, and most of the Siccopulmonae lay eggs.
