A chalk on newsprint gesture drawing of a model (NKI). I like the energy of the pose. I can't bring myself to scrap this. Not yet. I really think there's something in this that's more finished and complete, than even alot of my finished works, even if this is just a gesture.Related content

I'm definitely glad you didn't 'scrap' it- I rarely go digging through a deviant's scrapbook, and I would've missed seeing this one. There's a lot of movement in this one- the sketches and oversketches look really purposeful, not like some images of figure studies you see where you play and try to 'hit the mark' of what will look best as shadows, etc. Your title is perfect. 
And, on a side note, the hip twist into the thigh- and that right thigh- draw my eye like insanity.

I really love Sheile! I've always wanted to create a work of tribute to him, but I would want to emulate his coloring style as well. I really appreciate that comment, thank you. Maybe I'll replicate something like this in a more paint-friendly media and attempt to color it in the dirty/subtle way Sheile does.

i think of croquis when i see this.
when i was in my fashion and fibers class we had to draw croquis and i guess when i saw this i like how the body curves and sways b/c it would be perfect for drawing a croqui.

I actually had to look up "croquis" I've never heard that term before...
But after reading the definition, I did draw this in maybe a minute with a live model.. so maybe this does fit the description of croquis. That's part of the reason why I considered adding it as a scrap (my scrap gallery is so large, haha), because it wasn't drawn with the intention of being a finished or completed work... but I ended up liking it for what it was, you know?
For that reason I really appreciate your thoughts and favorites on this. I like this work, but I'm glad others do too. Thanks alot

i woudlnt' move it into scraps.
i think it looks like it could be a finished piece, personally i dont see it being complete any other way. just haveing the bold lines on the paper with the curves of the female body looks well enough to be a done piece.

I actually love critique. I love giving and receiving critisism on my work or the works of others... but no one has offered that to me before ;-;

no i love critiques. makes you a better artist, and makes you a stronger person.
changes harsh critiques of, "THIS IS HIDEIOUS" to "you just need to make this better" or you know...people that can't handle critiques.

I totally agree with you, but at the same time I respect the wishes of artists that don't want critiques. I, however, love them! Getting them, and giving them!
I don't even consider "THIS IS HIDEIOUS" to be critique... I just think it's dumb... but I don't mind receiving ideas on what to change, how a better style can work-- or opinions on what it is that -does- work with my art, to give me a better perspective on what I'm doing right, and to provide a focus on what I could continue doing or making better in the future.

I would have had no chance of drawing this if it wasn't for the figure drawing class here... Hips were pretty hard for me as well... I couldn't tell how to proceed from waist to leg 
Do you still go to school here, or did you transfer? If you're still around, you should take the class, the instructor is -great-, and the class is really helpful.

lol, fun. I think you'll like Figure Drawing, though. It forces you out of your perfectionist state of mind (or at least it did with me), and is really a completely different way of drawing. It's really different to try and draw something that's living, and the instructor is great- quirky... but great, haha.
