 Personality

Haughty: Being so respected by so many has lent itself to fuel Castiel’s Ego. To many of their helpers, Castiel can be quite a prick, but they do seem to genuinely want to help those wayward souls back to the light.

Diplomatic: When dealing with slaves and nobles alike, one must have some form of tact. Castiel has learned to tread carefully in every situation, and tailor their advice to every follower

Classist: Ever the egotistical, Castiel subscribes to the class system of Aodh. They will tend to a Noble far before a commoner, but still tries to get to all of them… then they help the slaves find their way but only so much can be done in a day.

Spiteful: Something Castiel doesn’t portray outwardly. Whether brainwashed or rightfully placed, Castiel hates the other gods, for lack of a better word. Those who revere them above Ignacio have no place with him, unless, of course, they have seen the error of their ways and wish for guidance down the right path, Ignacio’s

Otherworldly: Castiel’s eyes help portray this attribute physically, but their personality also displays it. Castiel’s knowledge and confidence make them see as a mouthpiece for Ignacio himself, rather than a common equine. “Godlike” some would say, but please say so quietly, their ego is already so very large.

Spiritual: A given in regards to their rank, but nonetheless vital to their character. Castiel will rise before the sun each day and pray or study until the sun has lit the sky. They make their rounds and speeches throughout the day, and very rarely leaves the Sanctum. On festival days, though, Castiel makes it a point to indulge in the Aodhian customs.

Materialistic: Having such a prestigious position lets one accumulate many admirers. Admirers who have far too much money from the pits and wish to buy Castiel gifts, whether to gain their favor or Ignacio’s, it is not clear, but Castiel has grown accustomed to their lavish lifestyle, supported mainly by their district's Artisans.

Studious: One of Castiel’s best qualities is their ability for learning. It comes very easily to him, being able to recall almost everything they read. Castiel can almost always answer any question asked on a whim.

 History

My pilgrimage was a strange one. My mother was an aid of the Enya Sanctum, but her heart didn't lie solely with Ignacio. She was tainted by a rogue, my father to be exact. As a helper for Enya’s sanctum, she met their kind often. Xanzabar started her work fully devout in Ignacio, faith not easily questioned. Then, my father tainted her heart with his own. But she was in love, something I can not easily spite her for. Her love for my father overshadowed her judgement and, in weakness, she let his lies in as truth. He would leave, often and long, claiming he was doing the “wave mother’s” bidding. He was all but gone from my life.

They are both dead, now, or Xanzabar is. I never truly knew my father, but I do remember the long days mother bade me to wait on the docks with her, asking rogues when her beloved would return. He rarely did, and for that I didn’t hate him. I hated him for taking my mother from her home, planting her on the docks and only returning to refire her passion. I went to every preaching and teaching I could. Xanzabar would tell me of Cascade over dinner with such bewilderment behind her eyes, but all it did was shine his passion through hers. Still she daydreamed of the wave mother returning her love, but he never did.

The Azar Flamen at the time was the one I turned to. As I said, I was a pilgrim, just not one to a far off land. The Flamen there was everything I relished: wise, ascended, beautiful, passionate, and most importantly, devoted. She lead me when I needed it, and as soon as I could, I took on my own work as her aid. Watching Inas, I learned everything i needed to know. When she was not teaching me, I was teaching myself. Every writing in the Sanctum has not gone unseen by my eyes. It was Inas that taught me the beauty of art. She lead me to appreciate the pieces within our walls and to curate pieces given by artisans, a task I partake in when I can, it brings me joy and revives Inas in my heart.

As I aged, so did my knowledge of Ignacio. I did all that I could to help my herd. To provide enlightenment where I could, and put a flame to what I couldn’t. I spent many of my best years here, and met many more in their worst. Then, my reverend fell after ten years together. She had only been Flamen for 12 years at the time, not nearly long enough. Inas was the very image of a Flamen, but my flame was going out and I could not help her. Ignacio deemed her service fulfilled.

It was on the night of her last breath she told me her dying wish. She began with the known, “I love you,” then the more important, “Ignacio shines through you”. It was then she deemed me her predecessor. It was that night eight years ago I became Flamen.

I will not lie to you, I was afraid. I couldn’t even take her room for weeks. It was the place i had come to know her and the gods, where I had forgotten or condemned my parents. It was my home, now so empty without her. But nonetheless, my path lead on. Inas was known for journaling her experiences, and I found her journal for her first two years. Every thought I had, she had, and I felt at home again. The other Flamines helped me in my new role, as did my older aids.

Six years, it’s been, and some days I feel clueless. I do what I can to help my followers, to show them the truth. I advised in what I could, and the loss of King Solaris was difficult for many of my followers, but her time had come, just as Inas’ had and she is now joined in the stars, happy and wealthy, watching us and waiting. In these eight years, I have also come to know the other gods, as much as necessity dictated. Even Cascade, the god for which my name comes from. I can not say I revere them as I do Ignacio, but I know their philosophies as best I can.

I do my best to lead the astray home, but they must hold their own torches. Still, it’s strange. Born and named for Cascade, I live for Ignacio. Though, I’d wish it no other way.

  Relationship Status:  hmu

  Skills:  Recall/memory

  Notes:

Preceding Flamen: Inas (aged 37 at time of death, Flamen for 12 years)

Began her reign at age 23, after the previous Flamen dies at age 87 after 30 years of service

Weirdly has no kids

Makes really confusing flame metaphors what the hell Cas

Also hates being called Cas, so use that when you can

Cas doesn't enjoy preaching the other gods. They don’t deny their existence, but accepts them as inferior, even though they are still very knowledgeable on them.
