  Personality

Brotherly: One of Aslan’s best attributes is his nurturing soul. His comradery among peers as well as family is a skill to be envied.

Morally ambiguous: Aslan tends to look the other way… often. He has a heart of gold, sure, but that doesn’t mean some rules need to be broken- maybe bent.

Stubborn: Once Aslan had made a decision it is extremely hard to waiver him.

Charming & Confident: The air Aslan puts off is very reassuring. He appears to know himself and presents himself confidently and completely. Some enjoy this air of sureness.

Two-faced: Aslan puts on a face at the barracks. He’s a advocate for pegasus rights and the similar, but he’d never admit it to his peers. However, this personality tends to come out in conversation through snide remarks.

Domineering: Due to his innate confidence, Aslan tends to take the leadership and dominance in relationships. He'd be the forward one, but also appreciates someone who is very forward them self.

Materialistic: Unfortunately, Aslan values himself based on material things. He wants to be able to support his family, otherwise he has failed.

Idealistic: Aslan sees the best in people, or he tries to anyway. Everyone is good somewhere in their souls.

Loyal: Aslan is loyal to a fault. He would never betray his family. His herd also. They are one in the same. Those who go against his herd need strong reason to for Aslan's support. Though, this loyalty isn't definite. Test the waters if you will, but once its lost, its hard to get back.

Impulsive: Aslan often lets his emotions control him. Give him a drink or two, it's even more so. He'll say what he thinks then and do what he feels. It's really a problem.

  History

Peter fell in love with an exotic looking brewer from town. She was undoubtedly beautiful and he was plain, but that did not mean she did not love him, too. Together they had a son, named Aslan. He shared his father’s plainness at first, but as he aged, he greyed, too. Both his parents were both devout to the sea goddess, Cascade, and instilled that in him. He prayed just as the others did. When he was 4, he was taken to his first sacrifice ceremony. Blissful and happy. As a child, Aslan didn't quite understand that these pegasi were giving their life to the wave mother. When he was older, about 7, that's when he was told by a hippocampus colt from down the street told him that Cascade hated Pegasi and that's why she killed them. That colt's arrogance shaped Aslan's views on the sacrifices so entirely. He tried to get out of going to the ceremonies as much as he could, most often by claiming sickness. Hassan confronted him about it and reassured him that it wasn't hate but pity. Cascade loved her children so entirely, she just wanted them all to be reunited with her. Aslan felt better about them and started going once more, but in the back of his mind, he knew that the sacrifices wanted to be with Cascade. They decided it.

Around age 10, Aslan was given a sibling. Aslan was so fascinated by his little sister and he adored her. There was often the brotherly pestering, but she was his best friend just the same. He taught her what his parents taught him. They prayed together, though Essie didn't quite have the words or understand them. She helped him with his work while she was to young to go out with her family and truly work. They raced and played and loved each others company. The two were avid workers on their father's farm, but neither of them took to Hasan’s brewery teachings. To Aslan, technical work was extraneous. While he was't a dumb and happy worker, he much preferred manual labor over technical. They learned the basics, but neither excelled at the task. For all of them, it was hard work daily trying to make a living. It wasn't always ideal, and life wasn't always smooth, but the work was much and he found solace in it.

When Kalas was born, Aslan was less impressed, for lack of a better word. He loved his brother, yes, but they were different. Hasan taught her second son to brew. He excelled at it- loved it. Aslan didn't. This is where where most of their dis-settlement arose from. Kalas saw Aslan as lesser because he couldn't grasp the work. Even being so naturally skilled, Kalas had to work the fields, too. He was weaker and smaller than Aslan and Essie and the work was boring and physically taxing. Though he so wished it, the family could not afford to send Kalas into an apprenticeship. They needed his work at home. Giving his labor away to a Brewer from town wouldn't be possible. This is what inspired Aslan to find a job in the city. He wanted to be a guardian. He was strong and devout and moral, everything you needed to be one. He took to training at 17 and finally found something he was good at, sparring, and finally and truly applied at 19.

When finally granted his title at 25, Aslan praised and thanked Cascade as he always had. All the money he had made or saved went to his family. If they could even take one day off to go visit a shrine, he'd happily send all his wages. With the help, Kalas was able to move to the city and take to actually brewing. Though Kalas is a little old (12) to only just starting as an apprentice, he's grateful for the opportunity.

Aslan sees his brother in the city every now and again and they often have dinner together. Getting back home to their small village is quite difficult, but having Kalas with him is nice. Though they didn't get along as children, they do now and that's what matters. Kalas's apprenticeship had come to term and he works under his mentor. They both send wages home to Hasan and Peter. Anything so their parents and sister can have a happy, not-so labor intensive life.

    Recent: ********see notes

Aslan’s faith shattered. While the sacrifices in general hadn't ever truly sat well with him, this one especially so. A child had been selected as the sacrifice. She hadn't truly been able to even understand the faith at all. How could they force this upon her so delicate wings. The filly hasn’t even been able to take to her own knees and pray on her own! He can’t justify this, and the sacrifices have always sat ill with him. Aslan was so unbelievably grateful that his siblings were blessed, wingless. That they wouldn't be taken from him in the way this filly was taken from her family. His faith is there, but in pieces. He does not know if he can return to the praising of the wave mother so blissfully as he used to, but can't abandon her entirely.
As for being confined to Torrine, Aslan doesn't detest it. He understands the need for protection and separation. He just wishes he could be with his whole family. Having his mother there, too, is nice, but not ideal. He'd much rather be in Inaria, working. With Hasan there, though, Kalas has had to return to the family farm. It's only for a short while. Even so, Aslan's faith still isn't what it was which utterly irks Hasan, and there are rumors of a group. They stand against the sacrifices as necessary and Aslan can't help but to agree. Not to their anarchy, but other things, yes. We've outgrown this need for sacrifice. The ideals of the rumored ‘flock’ appeal to him more and more, but he would never betray his herd- his home.

Chapter 3
With the flock upon him and his home, Aslan has only become more of a broken soul. He watched the flock kill his one true hero, Thaumas, as well as so many others. The flock told him so many things of Talori, but they had done far too many to the innocent to warrant his allegiance. With that, he left, wing dragging at his side. Through the mountains and north. The peak of mount Skeldr seems to be his destination.

  Relationship Status:  Single

  Skills:  Sparring, weapons handling

  Notes:

  • Looks the other way… often.

  • Bad cop does good for community

  • ********On sacrifices: Aslan doesn't necessarily disagree with them, he accepts them. It's more of a fear of death manifesting within them. He understands it as a part of his faith and appreciates that the sacrifices themselves understand and chose to subscribe to Cascade's philosophy. He just has a feeling in the back of his stomach that churns when they fall down that leap. As for the recent sacrifice, he thinks that those who are scarified had a complete understanding and acceptance of what was happening, but the filly had been so young. His disdain is mostly for what her family must have felt or he assumes felt. He misses his sister and its a bit of that manifesting, too.

  • Hates ethine/Aodh

  • Family first

  • Has a slight farmer’s accent. Covers it well and talks like a Noble sometimes due to exposure.

  • he likes beer ok
