Another shot at this idea, which I was never entirely happy with. I guess they could go together as a set?Death Note and Near (c) Ohba and Obata.

1. lineart of Near
2. flat tan bg
3. used a fern-leaf brush to texture Near
4. tree brush for trees
5. round soft-edged low opacity brush in same-hue sepia and light tan to give basic shading to Near, clouds, and fog
6. added shaded cell-shading on shirt in a different hue of sepia and touched up the clouds and fog a bit with the same color
7. added hair w/ grabbed colors from the rest of the pic and painted in the seeds
