Description A Haliaetus Griffin pauses to think over his most recent catch: a young shark. His name is Pandion. He lives and fishes in tide pools, because his wings are too small to fly and dive at fish like the other Haliaetus Griffins. He was very lucky to have caught the shark; it had been stranded in the tide pool.

I'm trying to do griffins a lot more. They're my favorite fantasy animal, yet more than half my gallery is dragons. And I don't even like dragons...

And uh... I'm attempting backgrounds again. I think I killed my dark gray sharpie on those rocks. ]: Also, I used crayon for the light color on the rocks, water, and the sky (which you can't see 'cause my scanner makes things really bright) because I can't do light colors with sharpie. :C

Oh, and almost completly off topic: I was looking for info on Wikipedia, and you know how Wikipedia is, you don't stay on the same subject for long, AND I found this guy: [link] OHMAHGERSH. Isn't that one HAWT vulture?! He's definetly gonna' be a griffin sometime soon.

I'm impressed with how well you've done this by hand. Certainly better than I could ever do. :>

Since you're trying to get better with gryphons, I thought I would give a couple comments about your anatomy. The way you've depicted the wing in this picture looks disproportionate. I think they should be a little bigger, since gryphons are heavy and need a rather impressive wingspan for efficient flight. Also, the ears on this gryphon looks too small. You might want to make them a little bigger.

Other than that, it looks great. Kudos for the correct osprey plumage, and the talons are anatomically correct, too. ( I'm a bit of a talon person, too.) Good work, and good luck on your next pieces!

Thanks! This is a somewhat old picture, and I've since learned. I even tried to make an excuse for the wings in the description. XD

very nice gryf! I adore osprey. You've really done a great job capturing the features here and making such a nice scene and story of it! Awesome work with the feet and plumage!

You always have the hottest unheard of animals, I have to say this.
That's a darn lot of detail, it's gorgeous!

I KNOOOOWWWWWW BIRDIES ARE SO HOOOOTT. 8D

Thanks. It's really not as detailed as it looks. The light gray marker I have for shading adds a lot of what looks like detail. I cheat. :3

It might be a mirror image of a duck, just trying to fool you.

Em... I used felt-tipped pens for the lines, if that's what you mean. And sharpies for most of the other colors. And a light gray fabric marker for the shading.
