Okay, so... a little something different from me. Those of you who don't know who this is, this is Vanya, also known as The White Violin. She's a character in Gerard Way's comic series known as The Umbrella Academy. He's the writer/creator of it and a gentleman by the name of Gabriel Ba does the artwork for it. I've had her sketched for a really long time now, and truthfully wasn't sure if anybody would like it if I posted her or not, but I said fuck it and decided to color her tonight and post her. She's my absolute favorite character. She's only in the first series though known as Apocalypse Suite, and she's one of those characters that you want to hate but you can't hate because you feel so hard for her. She's incredible. So anyway, here's the lovely Vanya or The White Violin if you prefer, either way she's a human violin and if she starts playing, stay the fuck away because you're gonna pretty much explode if you don't. No, seriously. I'm not kidding. She kills by playing her violin. It's fucking awesome. If anybody at all has never checked out this series before, I implore you to do so if you enjoy comics and really wild superheros with really unique and weird powers, but nonetheless awesome-ass characterization. So yeah. Anyway. I hope you guys enjoy her as much as you have my other works! Thank you in advance for any comments and/or faves!

Great work! This is actually one of the better drawings of Vanya that I have seen. This drawing also (or at least in my opinion) represents Vanya's character really well.
I can't say that Vanya is my favorite character (that goes to Rumor or 00.05) but this is a really great and awesome piece of art. I love it.

Oh wow! She's stunning!
(can I tell you something a little weird? When you said you were working on a drawing of Vanya, this is actually how I pictured it... The pose, the blood, the music notes in the background... Freaky!)
Anyway, she's gorgeous! Wow, I love the way you've drawn her face especially, the eyes are so... Cold. It's so striking!
And yes the background is amazing and ties in so well.

Thank you! I wanted to do something a little different, try a different style I guess? Sorta comic-bookish meets anime type style. I love how Gabriel draws her, but I didn't want to mimic his style if that makes sense? But yes, I wanted to give her a very emotionless look, like she's in the moment, playing her violin, even though she knows she's killing everybody around her, if that makes sense? Haha.
Oh yes. I totally shock.

I like how you kept a white background and kept the other colors minimal, Vanya definitely pops!
I have a soft spot for her because I also play the violin. Whenever my conductor/teacher tells me to play with more strength, I think "Oh no but what if I kill you?!" even though I don't have super deadly violin powers.

I started when I was ten and I just stuck with it. It's not my favorite instrument but I like it enough to keep going with it.
I want to introduce my conductor to the Umbrella Academy just to see what he thinks of Vanya.

Oh, did you? I love stringed instruments, especially orchestral because the music they produce is so beautiful, haunting and drifting. I could listen to it and piano for hours. I'm a huge fan of classical music.

Oh, Apocalypse Suite? Yeah, that's the first series. Dallas is the 2nd one, but yes. She's incredible isn't she? I just feel so hard for her in the story.

I looove the umbrella academy, and I know what you mean. At first you think, okay, she's the bad guy; I hate her. But deep down, you know you've been there, or maybe you're there now, feeling so worthless and left out. This is beautiful. I love your art.

Ahhh me too! She's such an amazing character. Even though she becomes a villain, I just can't hate her. Your heart goes out to here when she's young because she's told there's nothing special about her, and that's why she can't go with the other 6. I always feel so hard for her when she breaks her violin and cries and Pogo tells her she is special and hugs her. She's such an amazing character, but yes. I have felt worthless and not wanted more times than I can count. Sometimes still do. I think that's why I connected so hard with her character. I hope she's in Hotel Oblivion!
