I love the finished color and look of this! Thank you for showing such a fantastic progress line of this helmet, it really helps anyone who hopes to make things similar! Might I ask, what is the vertical height of the horns? How do you keep them from bumping into low ceilings and such?

no problem, was my first time making a helmet like this, I tend to record my work like this to remind myself of how to do stuff , uhh the horns from the helmet part to the tip is 30-31cm , uhh well id say just be careful where you walk and if the celing is low put your head forward a lil bit, most cons and doorframes you should be ok, depends on how tall you are and how big you make the horns , im lucky im short at 5ft 2 so I find comfy through normal doors, but in a large convention center ill have no problems walking around

Okay, thank you very much! I'm working on a project with horns (not a Loki helmet, but it will have long, Ibex-like horns of similar length and curve) and I was traumatized about damaging them on low doorframes. Knowing the length you have these at helps because it's a good measurement for the 'realistic' length, and now that I think about it, maybe I can just scale them down partially or tilt them further forwards so that they can just pass under an average 7ft door without me having to rely on my horridly forgetful brain to duck every time.
Oh, and I like leaving compliments after people are so kind as to help or answer me, so I have to say that I'm a big fan of your finished Loki costume as well, and the photoshoots you've done are really flattering towards the overall work!

Oh man my heart skipped a beat when I read "con in November" because we're having Otafest Aurora here, but you live all the way in the UK so it's not likely you'll be there. ;^;

yeah I have 2 in November, so its a busy month, yeah right now I can do any cons outside of the uk, if I were invited over to them as a guest then I could, but that's unlikely, whats otafest aurora?

It's an anime con in western Canada. The event is actually just called "otafest", but there's a second title latched on depending on what time in the year it takes place, because there's multiple throughout the year. www.otafest.com/ Β It's fun as a local con, but I wouldn't go so far as to fly all the way here for it. It's the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo that gets pretty big around here.
