Description The original for this piece was done freehand with rapidograph pens on a sheet of lined notebook paper. ...Back when I had way too much time on my hands (and not much common sense).
I decided to clean out the background and add the sepia look, but the linework is essentially the same.
The concept was a war-weary battle-scarred spaceman using a somewhat anachronistic weapon for a walking cane.
(circa 1979)

Thanks for the enthusiastic compliment (and the fave). The majority of my two-dimensional art used to be this type of work (line art) I've moved into so many other mediums and techniques that I often lose sight of my "roots". Glad you enjoyed

Your most welcome - you have a nice gallery... I too work in lots of different mediums, nothing quite so large as large as your bull skull [awesome]...

I love the sepia tone in this. I think it make this piece a bit more interesting. The line work is amazing enough though. I really love it! So many nice details.

Thank you for the kind words (and fave). Glad you enjoyed. This piece dates from back when all I needed was a fine-point pen, paper (of any kind, including paper bags and napkins), and lots of patience So much of my newer work relies on high-tech hardware and software. Cool tools to be sure, but i often think back on the simpler times *sighs nostalgically*

Hehe no problem. The more traditional approach is so interesting but it's also amazing what people can do now with technology! I try to keep a balance of both though.

Thank you my friend I often wish for the simpler times when a pen and paper were all the art tools I needed. LOL

Thanks! I haven't done a lot of (technical pen) line art recently, but the urge resurfaces from time to time.

This is very cool. I enjoy the classic look. I am a big fan of Druillet as well...

I like it, reminds me of the work of an early heavy metal magazine artist
Phillipe Druillette? ( dunno if I spelled that right )

You are right about the Druillet resemblance. I was a big fan of Heavy Metal (before it devolved into a gratuitous porn rag). It probably influenced a lot of my artwork. Thanks for the comment.
