Sadly you're right. Sometimes this world can be a very harsh place.
Well, at least the pond on my drawing is really peaceful.

You ended its suffering, which must have been considerable. It may not seem like that way, but that was the kindest thing you could have done.
It is sad that the toad was so badly injured, but please don't be sad about having helped it.
Amazing perspective and colors... Congratulations on a wonderful DD!Β

Thank you so much for your kind words and your understanding.
I still wished that there had been a way to save the toad, but you're right...this was the only thing that I could do for it, even though it hurt so much.
I'm glad that you like the picture and the perspective. I still can't believe that this drawing was chosen as DD and it honours me.

Thank you so much for your compliment, the congratulation and your understanding.
I hope that the toad was no longer able to feel much and that it can rest in peace now.

Oh my, that's a sad story, but you were really brave! And you made the frog immortal with your stunning artwork Β
I totally feel you ~ I'm from a big city too, and I always go to see the frog migration at the lakes on our forest park. Even though it's a forest park, people are lazy and go there by cars, even one bus link goes right beside the lakes, resulting in many, many dead toads.Β
Even people on bikes don't pay attention to hopping frogs! Β
I gently picked every frog on the road and put them safely away, and I was so sad that I couldn't be there whole day doing that; can we have something like "frog patrols", with the signs to stop cars and a whistle? Β
Anyway, I don't think feeling empathy is childish, quite the opposite You have a very gentle soul! Bless you Β

Thank you so much. It honors me that you see it in that way.
I understand you too well. It's so nice to see all the frogs (near my hometown is a beautiful forest with several large ponds, where frogs always splash about in water. I always enjoyed watching themΒ )
It is terrible that people are so ruthless and approve the death of these animals. So I think it's great that you
brought the frogs to safety. Β
As soon as I realized that toad migration had started, I also spent some time in the evening to carry the toads across the street. It was always hard for me to go as well, since I would have loved to find and rescue every toad.
Frog patrols sound great! In some areas we have "frog-fences", but sadly not everywhere.
I think it's really great that you care so much about these animals.
Thank you for your understanding and your kind words. I can return the compliment

It warms my heart to read that you care so much about your local wildlife, and that you even went as far as putting the toad out of his/her misery... (I try to avoid saying 'it' as much as possible, since the toad must've been a he or she after all.)
Agreed that most humans care too little! Thank you for this tribute; it's not childish - it helps raise awareness, and it hopefully helps you to sleep better again.

Thank you so much for your kind words and your understanding. I felt like a terrible person at this moment, even though I knew that it was the best for the animal.
(Yes, I totally feel you. That's something I never liked about the English language. It sounds like animals were just objects and that's sad.
I'm pretty sure that it was a male toad)
Thank you very much. Yes, in combination with all the nice comments here it really helped.
