Description It's also time for a Druid Prime Minister @ UK

Really now, if anybody believes that Mitt Romneys religous beliefes won't play any part on how his going to rule his country, you must be as crazy as he is.

Now, I know I'm opening a very serious political & religious debate here and the combination of these two things can never lead to any good so try to be as civil as possible or else I will disable the comment section. As much as I like debating I don't like people taking advantage of the comment section just to prove how stupid or ignorant they are

Cheers!

yet again, this does not make him suitable for President. Also, Obama has lost debates in the past and he ended up becoming the President. Sadly, it's going to be close either way and it really shouldn't.

sadly, yes. ;___; hopefully one day there will be an atheist president that will take the "god" from your ummm that thing some people have to lead in class? I forget the name XD and the "god" from our national anthem. At least then it would be less offensive~

....God isn't even mentioned in the national anthem, and that 'thing some people have to lead in class' is called the Pledge of Allegiance...Just saying . _ .

Oops, sorry, I'm thinking American XD

Yeah, sorry, it was silly of me to just assume you were American.

I really don't see why an atheist would be offended saying God in their national anthem or pledge cause it's just a nonsense word to you, right? I'm not trying to be mean, I just wonder why all the fuss sometimes...

Sc1r0n In reply to SpongeMuffin [2012-09-13 19:53:02 +0000 UTC]

This will absolutely never happen in the "modern" world. Of course, there might be (or might have been) an Atheist President but it would not go public. Reason is that the majority of people are theists and they need to feel represented. That's fine with me as long as religion doesn't mess with the political views.

SpongeMuffin In reply to Sc1r0n [2012-09-13 20:32:45 +0000 UTC]

I don't know, I think it may happen. Not in my lifetime, but in the near future. With every new generation, more and more people are Atheist. I think there's been a drop of 23% since the 70's of how many people are religious.

LS-Jebus [2012-09-13 15:50:38 +0000 UTC]

Religion is important in politics if the candidate says his religion guides him, and if the religion contains some beliefs that are contrary to your own. For example, Mormonism is a racist, sexist religion if one goes by the Book of Mormon, which Mormons take as the word of God. If Romney is genuinely religious, he is necessarily racist and sexist, or else he is lying and isn't actually religious.

When I go to vote, a candidate's ideas on race and gender equality are important. Therefor, when a candidate claims to be religious, his religion is a valid consideration.

How is the Book of Mormon a "racist/sexist" book? Have you even read it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LS-Jebus In reply to SyreenOrder [2012-10-26 17:34:06 +0000 UTC]

Yes. Reading religious books is a bit of a hobby of mine. The Book of Mormon declares men to be the masters of women, similar to the Bible and Quran. The whole idea of men being inherently superior in religious and social matters is sexist. And the book declares dark skin to be a curse for sins, and says following the word of god can alleviate people of their 'condition' (turn them white). It also declares interracial marriage to be a sin...

i'm taking an elections class this sememster and we've talked a LOT about romney and how he would quite honestly NOT make a good president! he's separate from the people all the way up in his 1% financial status (hell he's probably in like the .1%), his views on women, homosexuals, anyone who's not exactly like him... he doesn't have anything that would make him a good president. and now his vice presidential candidate! lying ryan! he can't get a truth out to save his life! fact checkers have been getting him at EVERY angle! yeah... we sure do want a liar for a vice president and a complete imbecile for a president... dear gods, america.... don't elect him!

Eh,Catholic is not exactly the same as Mormon and in a country with a huge number of catholics I don't think it made a big difference.

joeraiden In reply to Sc1r0n [2012-09-07 18:54:16 +0000 UTC]

at the time it was controversial, due to the nature of some who thought Kennedy would get his policies from the pope, today this thought would be foolish, and 50 years from now the thought of saying this about a Mormon i guarantee you will be foolish

Mormon or not, Romney is just too sleazy. He's a liar, he's a flip flop artist, he's misleading people, he's phoney, he's a Wall Street puppet, he's a 99% fan, he's weak on foreign policy, he's Sara Palin in a suit and tie.

Obama has not impressed me yet, but it's going to take time to fix the country after the mess the Repulicans left it in. I'd like to give him a chance to finish the job he's started. He can't possibly do worse than 8 years of Bush.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sc1r0n In reply to Melalina [2012-09-07 15:36:18 +0000 UTC]

Obama, as every president before him is serving the interest of the industries that support him. I really believe that before he became president he had absolutely no clue how things work in the White House and that the President is really there just to keep the people that they voted for him, happy. Have you noticed how much Obama changed since he got to be President? The dude is one step from being twins with Morgan Freeman

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Melalina In reply to Sc1r0n [2012-09-12 18:46:31 +0000 UTC]

i don't think he realized how difficult it was going to be. he was naive enough to think he could make bi-partisanship work. he wasn't prepared for republican open hostilities. i think he genuinely wanted to do a good job, or at least a better job than he did. he is also dealing with the impatience of the American people. folks are bleeding and they want quick relief. that's not going to happen. it took 8 years of republican leadership to get us to where we are and 4 years of a hit or miss Obama leadership is not going to fix things. i'm willing to give him another try. anything but romney.

that job ages everybody.
