Oh, definitely-the O.G. KG's mad cackle is easily one of the most distinctive (and original) monster-calls of all time...although I didn't really mind Showa-Goji's repertoire when it was Showa-Goji sounding off. It just struck me as a little out of place for the Heisei series' FX guys to substitute the original shrieks after the first 3 movies.
That, and they gave Battra the voice of Rodan. Were they over-budget or something?

Yeah, I always wondered about that. It seemed like they were being lazy with Battra when they reused Rodan's shriek.

Well, that's how I interpret the roar G used in his '54 debut, as well as the first three Heisei films (G'85, GvBiollante & GvKing Ghidorah)...I have NO clue why Toho switched back to Showa-style shrieks for the rest of that series. But type it any which way you please.

Thanks! Heh, yeah, Showa Goji DID have some odd sounds, didn't he? It worked for such a goofy jerk, though!
I still prefer Showa Ghidorah's oddly musical calls, though. "I am terifying and I sound like a flute player gone wrong!!!"

"SSSKHREEEEE-AAAAAAAOOOOOOUUUUUNNNKH!!"
That said, your earlier Goji-rendition wasn't bad at all...the horizontal pose, to my eye, just looked like the perfect setup for a T.rex-style charge, which would be awesome on film.
This piece basically fixes the previous one's main flaw-those short hind legs-while retaining the features that made it so nifty:
-That toothy, spiky, pseudo-draconic face
-Nicely-rendered talons (this Goji seems to have four hindclaws and that little dewclaw-nice detail)
-All those funky scute-ridges and joint-fringes on the hands/feet/elbows/heels/knees
-Those massive sweeping main dorsals-actually an improvement on the previous rendition
-The neck...slightly longer & more flexible-looking than the usual for Godzillas, which is no bad thing-helps with up-close chomping & sweeping the death-ray, for one.
Great job, and I feel like a dope for not commenting sooner, given that it's about all I do on DA so far.

First off, HERE's how you give a shout out to Big G:

That noted, this is truly a fearsome job. Your first Goji really wasn't bad at all...its main 'Achilles heel' was the short hindlegs. This piece pretty much remedies that and improves on the bits that made the first nifty...namely the bristling spines & ridges, fearsome face, powerful but flexible-looking appendages, and especially those sweeping main dorsals. I also like the neck-a lot of the later Goji-costumes, while awesome, were a bit stiff-looking in that area.
Odd Note #1: this Goji almost looks like he's briefly rearing back kangaroo-style to size his adversary up, then launch into a T.rex-style charge. Which would truly be killer to see on film.
Odd Note #2: the rounded tail-tip reminds me of the 90s/Heisei-era Godzilla.

Very nice, I like this a lot! This Godzilla looks ready to rumble! I really like the head, very nasty and tough. If your interested I do have two criticisms/comments. If not, I'll just say - great work again!

OK, not much really. These aren't really mistakes, just some things that looked odd to me (no idea if anyone else sees it). I just thought its tricep muscles are drawn more like biceps and the tail seams to get thicker at the very end. It may be just me, but those things kept jumping out at me. Pretty minor and picky I know, but the better the work - the more the little things jump out! Again, great job!

Muscles are tough - when I was drawing Xirugan I decided I should really get an anatomy book or book on drawing anatomy. Its triceps didn't look right to me either, and I didn't take the time to draw it correctly. So much for my own advice! I really just kinda wing it myself.
What is it with cats always wanting attention when you draw!? When i was younger my cat would always flop down on my drawing pad when I was trying to draw.

I'm not very good with muscles, I'll admit. I just try to look at my own arms, and copy the way they look, while beefing them up, of course!
And the tail tip IS thicker. That I did not do on purpose. While I was inking, my cat decided he loved me, and had to rub against my drawing arm.
