Description OOAK (one of a kind) kirin sculpture named "Eirlys". She is made from polymer clay over a wire and foil armature and painted in acrylics. All of my sculptures are completely one of a kind, which means that I never do moulds or casts, and I never attempt to replicate sculptures I've already done.

Eirlys is about 4 inches long from chest to bum, and about 7 inches tall to the tip of her horn. She has greyish blue resin eyes. Her body is an iridescent creamy white with shimmering silver horn, hooves, and scales. Her hair is tibetan lamb fur. Unlike my other kirins, I have given Eirlys exaggerated cervine anatomy, with a thinner, delicate frame.

Eirlys is currently for sale on etsy! [link]

WOW! I think these sculptures are the best I've ever seen! Also, can I ask, what type of clay do you use and how do you prevent cracking?

Thank you! I use super sculpey clay mostly, and the sculpey firm stuff too, usually a blend of both. I use multiple bakes (there's a tutorial in my gallery on that) which prevents air getting trapped. The best way to prevent cracks is to put the sculpture in right away (don't preheat the oven) and to wait until it's totally cooled down before removing the sculpture. I think most cracking comes from taking the sculpture out of the oven while it's still warm If you have any other questions just let me know!

I love this one, the delicate anatomy is beautiful. The pose you chose is perfect too, I have seen many a playful horse strike exactly that one on a cool morning. You really nailed it!
