wow, that is a magical mystical piece. so much blue. i see 4 kids and the forest world looks beautiful if a bit dangerous. i could imagine these 4 kids exploring the forest watching out for the bears and other dangerous traps. the rain droplets are lovely as is the watery grass or is it a river. this reminds me of the new show stranger things but this is a more fantasy based picture. this has to be pic of the hour. very lovely art and one that is missing from the site and i'm glad you don't do fetish stuff. you create fantasy worlds by pen or paint. i was a kid when i explored the forests in woodhaven lakes. still though, this is so magical. when i think of the forest, i think of a certain fantasy world. wonderful piece. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>

Hello, I´m from a.deviantart.net/avatars/p/r/p… " alt=" " title="ProjectComment" />! ^_^
I haven´t given out many critiques yet, so I hope it´s not sounding off.

First I want to start with the vision.
I really like the idea of a rainy forest with such unusual but interesting perspective! It makes me feel to be part of the scenery, watching kids or a family which seems to got lost and who searches a way out. It is amazing how the combination of rain and perspective can produce such dramatic overall look. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

Now to the technique and overall look.
The amount of water, running to the front of the image really strengthens the dynamic and dramatic here and I think you did a great job on the water perspective, too. I think water is really difficult to draw, but you did good to make it look to be flooding the grassland without looking like a sea. I only think that one some parts it looks like waves or waterfall, where the strokes are too large and wavy. Though I think your intention was to make the ground have a less flat looking. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/> My tip was to shorten the strokes and make the ground less wavy.

I love how you used a minimalistic color pallett of blue, green and white and how you blurred the trees on their tops and the more they are farer away. This and the soft sun make it look like a misty weather which fits perfectly to the rain.
It´s also very interesting to see the humans as shadows, caused of the dark. The one person holding a branch, makes me feel even more they got lost somehow.^^

There are only a few things to mention. I recognized that the combination of sharp and blurred parts are not balanced enough on some parts. (That´s what I have to learn myself, too. ^^") The characters should be a bit blurred I guess, though I know they are the focus. But the ground they are standing on and the tress next to them are more blurred like them, which is a bit confusing to look at.
Same with the piece of water on the left side of the hill they are standing on. This and the thing I mentioned with the water on the front were the only things I have to critique.

All in one, this is a really awesome piece with an unusal scenery and interestic perspective! Keep it up! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

Hello Lacrima,

although you are not experienced in commenting I think you did it very well and respectful and your advices are very helpful and specific. I tried to improve the piece as good as I could. I'm not completely satisfied with the water yet but I tried to improve the blurriness in the background.

Thank you for taking time to comment. It really always makes me really happy and I feel very honoured that someones analyzes a piece I did

Stunning artwork!! I personally think that this art is amazing in almost every way!! The misty waterfall under the exploring people's feet is very on point! It gives the cold chills but probably the best part of this artwork!!
Alright, rooms for improvement time! I think that the artwork would look better or just make more sense if the light in the sky between the trees is slightly dimmer than now. With that much of a bright light, the water reflection should be brighter than now, even with the fog. Also, the grass in the fog just doesn't seem very realistic, it just seem a little plain. I know i might be picky here, but i just think that a bit more work on the details would make this art even better.
That's all i have to say for this amazing artwork, keep up the great job!!

Thank you for the nice and helpful comment. Your feedback was actually quite helpful and I tried to dimm the light in the edited version. I'm still not completely satisfied with the grass in my second version but let's see if I will get back to the painting once more

This piece is absolutely stunning! The blue and green colors compliment eachother very nicely! The perspective is great and I love how you drew the light up in the trees! I agree that’s the streams are drawn a little too detailed, they almost look like webs (very pretty webs though) I think you can fix this by drawing fewer streams that are wider. If you draw them transparent so you can see what’s behind them they’ll still look like run off from the rain and not like a water fall (which I’m guessing is what you were trying to avoid). The blades of grass in the back ground should be shorter to help with the perspective (unless the grass in the back is supposed to be taller)
I don’t know what sort of tone you’re trying to set here but I think blurring out the kids a tiny bit will add a sense of mysterious-ness to the image.

Great work! My favorite thing about this is that it definitely tells a story that I’d love to exploree.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>

very interesting use of white lines to emphasise the rain.
Oddly enough reminiscent to a Chinese film in a  rain/battle scene.

This is a good piece. Has a really great feeling of depth. Just the right amount of detail to give it a feeling without overly defining or focusing on a single spot.

Very nicely done!! I too love the blue-greens and the haze off in the distance. To me it makes me think I would not want to be out there at dust in the haze.. kind of a spooky vibe.. Kudos!!

Thank you very much. Yes it's a little spooky. I guess it's the blueish colors that emphazise that. Actually I never intent making my paintings appear spooky but they always turn out a bit more darker. But it's ok for me . I guess it's just my taste

I adore the composition and the colors as well.  The mood it gives off is something between eerie and awe.  The dripping water seems a bit stiff and uniform, but that would be my one and only critique.  I really like it!
