My favorite Boss Fight in the entire Metal Slug series. Rootmars is a bitch to fight, but this battle is so atmospheric, as you escape the unstable Mars Mothership, you hop inside of a Super Vehicle 001 during your daring efforts as it is pulled into the vacuum of space and begins to hurtle towards the Earth, as it falls from the sky, Rootmars, angered and torn from his resting place swoops in and grasps the Slug in mid-air, he clearly won't let you go after ruining his plans to rule the world through Morden's army of soldiers, noooo, he's worked to hard. As the battle begins, you begin to shoot and blast the fuck out his brain with both the Vulcan Gun and Cannon, until he uses that deadly disruptive brainwave, pretty much if you've fought the big man, you clearly know what to do when fighting this guy. Part way through the fight, one of the other characters, namely the one you've rescued from the clutches of the mad Mars Folk and all the hell they put you through, will come to aid you in one of the Mars ships and every often fire a beam at Roots to assist you little by little, your left to do most of the work, but no matter what, to me, this is the best Final Boss battle with Metal Slug 7's coming right in second and Metal Slug 2 in 3rd.
