Moveset: Scratch - Hard, pointed, sharp claws rake the target to inflict damage.

Leer - The user gives opposing Pokémon an intimidating leer that lowers the Defense stat.

Reflect - A wondrous wall of light is put up to reduce damage from physical attacks for five turns.

Confusion - The target is hit by a weak telekinetic force. This may also confuse the target.

History: Elaine was born in a land away from Tremel, raised alone by her father, who was a well-known and respected mage.

Despite the time-consuming nature of his work, Elaine's father always did his best to spend time with her and, seeing her interest, promised to one day teach her everything he knew about magic.
Elaine was incredibly excited to pursue this path, as she greatly admired her father, even to the point of idolization! She had completed her education with flying colors, and earned her mark of Ambition.
It symbolized her desire to follow in her father's footsteps, and learn everything she could about magic and how it was connected to the world. An ambition that would only intensify tenfold in the near future...

Unfortunately, the day for which her father would begin to pass his knowledge of magic onto her would never come, or at least not in the way it was expected.
A close "friend" and fellow mage of her father had stolen new, experimental research from him, and wanted to use it for their own gain.
Not financial, or even social gain, no, something far worse.
Elaine's father had not found out about this treachery until it was too late. The mage had readied and performed a massive, extremely dangerous ritual that ended the lives of hundreds, maybe even thousands of Pokemon on the continent.

And, after that, the power-hungry mage had simply vanished without a trace.

With no one else around to take the blame, the only reasonable culprit in the eyes of the public was Elaine's father. He was too grief-stricken and overcome with guilt over the role of his research in the event, and his inability to stop it, to make a defense for himself. He was soon arrested and executed for a mass murder he did not commit.
However, he had forseen this, and days prior sent Elaine into hiding with another friend of his, one he knew he could trust.
It was a necessity. Soon after her father's death, magic was not only taboo, but strictly outlawed throughout the land due to mass hysteria.
Anyone found practicing it would be sentenced to certain death, whether they man, woman, or child.
And so any mages had to either quit altogether, hide, or flee to a different land.

Elaine chose the latter.
The heartbreak and despair brought on by her father's death did not dissuade her from her goals, and in fact only expanded them.

When she had left her father, she made away with a good deal of his notes, and would continue to study them obsessively.

However, Elaine was not quite capable of applying this knowledge, practically or safely.
It became clear to her that the only way she would be able to pursue her dream now was to escape the country, to a place that was more accepting of her kind. She had read of such a place, mentioned in her father's notes, where she could learn and practice magic as she desired.
The Elmheart Research School in Tremel. This was where she needed to go, in order to finally learn magic proper and work towards redeeming her late father's name. To redeem magic itself in the eyes of her homeland.
After convincing her guardian to allow her to leave, she was given some money to get her by, and would then board a ship to Fairfort.

A few long weeks at sea later, and she had finally arrived. A new world, full of opportunity, as well as it's own new dangers. How exciting!
Elaine needed a way to sustain herself here, as despite being only 14 years old, she was truly on her own now. As it turns out, the Trade Guild was readily hiring anyone with the qualifications to join, an opportunity she readily took.

This is where the young mage's tale truly begins...

Personality: Elaine is an immature, stubborn and strong-willed Pokemon with a quick temper. She is often so caught up with her own goals that she may end up ignoring the problems of others if it does not concern her or her research, willfully or otherwise, making her rather selfish. Elaine has little to no respect for authority figures, and will readily disobey and order if she does not agree with it, regardless of repercussions. She will always do what she herself believes is right, and due to the troubles of her childhood, will show a sympathetic nature to the true suffering of others if it is made known to her. The Espurr believes in the inherent good of others, and is willing to forgive easily, perhaps to a fault.

Elaine is prone to making foul-mouthed, sarcastic comments whenever the opportunity arises, which combined with her disdain for authority, can land her in trouble from time to time. She is very defensive when the tables are turned, and her temper will often have her resort to violence instead of words.

Elaine's affinity to magic, transmutation magic in particular, has led her to view her problems in a very practical, mathematic manner. With a level head, the Espurr can be thoroughly cunning, turning around even the most impossible situations.

Trivia:
-Elaine is 14 years old!

-She is a surprisingly skilled fighter, being able to keep up with Pokemon much larger and stronger than herself.

-She shows great talent towards magic, but isn't quite able to use it well yet. She currently attends the Elmheart Research School for this!
