Thanks... everyone I've shown this too seems to like the color a lot, I guess the reason why I don't like it is that the paint washed away all the subtle pencil work I did.

Heh, I hate it when things like that happen. You work really hard to make sure small details look soft, and good, and then something messes it up.
Maybe you could try and make it less subtle? Then maybe the colors would soften it up a bit. Just a thought, you might wanna give it a try.
