Done for 's X-men Jam. [link]Normally I don't jump in on these kindsa things, but I absolutely HAD to do Gambit for this since he wasn't taken yet. Cuz if it wasn't for this character (drawn by Jim Lee) way back in X-Men#3, I more than likely wouldn't be drawing today.
Seeing as to how this was the first character I ever really tried to draw, it'd be a nice tribute a good 16 years later.

Wow, this is a great drawing and it really brings out the cards attributes without taking away from the picture! Another great picture!

This one was fun to do since I don't do too much fanart. But Gambit is always fun to draw. But the best part was coloring the cards. I'm pretty happy with the turnout.

I did the cards on a seperate page and drag them over Gambit. lol. Just wasn't enough room on the page. But it definitely made it a LOT easier to give the cards the perspective I wanted them to have.

Well, it seems to have worked. I also find that drawing/scanning things separately can give more compositional freedom later... plus when you pile things on top of each other, like that mushrooms thing I did everyone be all like WHOAH detail !

Kinda took a few tries to come up with a good pose too. Cuz it was Gambit, I had two options. Have him standing there lookin badass smokin a cig or have him doin something dynamic while throwing cards. lol. Naturally, I went for the dynamics. There just more fun. BUT it still took several different tries to get the right pose. Cuz it had to look like something he'd actually do.
I hope I nailed it. lol.

I'm kinda happy with it too. I intend to recolor it later though. Do somethin a little more shaded and blended I think.
The details in the linework are unfortunetly few in my opinion. But I didn't want to go too crazy with the lines so's to leave plenty of room in which to add color. Still debating weither or not to upload the original lines for people to practice with.

The pose was a must. Its friggin Gambit, right? lol. I'll be damned if I'mma draw him just chillin smokin a cigarette when i could have him jumpin around throwin handfulls of trouble.

Yea, cuz the last thing I want is to get totally mauled by early to mid twenty-something year old fangirls who've grown out of there braces and just got confortable with there own bodies cuz they finally figured out that girl geeks could be hot to.

Well, ... it wasn't drawn for that purpose.... but hey, whatever rocks your jollies, kiddo.
But yea, not many come more badass than Gambit. Thats for sure. I'm pretty happy with how the cards came out too. I think I could do more with them, but I'll play around with that little theory later I think.
Also, not sure if you're interested or not, I might have a Nightwing piece up soon.
