This is the latest installment of my Marvel series artworks presenting Sentry. At first i thought "what? another superman clone?!" But im glad Marvel has done a lot of great unexpected moves for this character. There's no worse nutcase in comic book history this powerful!No references used except for the costume design. First time drawing The Sentry btw.

Thanks! i agree with you... among the newer characters from Marvel, this one is one of my top 10. His backstory was really well done and tricked a lot of people into thinking it was real! The character himself is quite interesting too. He is like a Suped up Jeckyl/Hyde and more!

Sentry may have 3-4 similarities with Superman (The "S", the Watchtower = Fortress of Solitude, the Watchdog = Krypto, and few similar powers: superstrenght, superspeed, flight), but he is on a whole different level then Superman.
He is also actually based on the Miracleman. They had the same introduction into the comic book world, they had a very similar past and both of them had a dark opponent, who was a dark, powerful entity, threatening everyone and especially the heroes wifes. (The Void for the Sentry and Kid Miracleman for Miracleman).

Indeed! but with Sentry, its much more unique coz the villain is himself as well. Kinda like a superpowered Mr Hyde. And Marvel is a genius with the way they introduced him to the world. Remember how they released fake drawings of Sentry that were supposedly originally from the 60's or 70's? and that he always existed but juz wiped out from everybody's memories? really cool way to bring a new character in!

He became my favorite comic book character because of that and everything else you could read about him in his first two Volumes.

diggin' the ripped muscles. suits the character very well. and by the way, he's one of my favorite marvel powerhouse characters, second to Gladiator.
P.S. now i know why you went on the dim mood... it was to put emphasis on the S symbol, right? great job!

I like your cel-shaded touch coupled with the realism of the face and hair - I love pieces where the lighting throws the expression into deep shadow.

Thanks! I tried to make the face simple and kinda rough cellshaded look but i cant pull it off so had to make the face a tad bit realistic.

And he has done a lot of serious business! In case you havent followed the Marvel books, he fought Hulk to a standstill during WWH, tore Ares in half recently and brought down Asgard on his own by shooting himself like a Torpedo towards the place.
Think Superman with a very thin line between sanity and going postal.

Thanks! i actually wanted to add the void in the BG but to keep things together with others from the set, i decided to keep it simple. But im very glad to hear that he still got that eerie vibe.
