Oh my!
You are amazing! I could favourise your whole gallery! The way you use colours and forms, oh, It just makes my heart beat very fast and all I wanna do is go and paint myself.
I kind of discovered colours again, I had a time when I was afraid of them but now I feel some sort of need to use colours as much as possible!
Well, keep up the good work, I will keep on following your way in the world of art.

Hey thanks, probably the best thing I've heard today is when you said it motivated you to go make work.
That is an honor, and I appreciate the feedback. I hope that you DO go make the work.
This is the right of all humans, mark making is the right of everyone, it is our heritage as a species.
It is communication.

Nice to meet you!

You seem to have a keen fascination with tentacles.

No wonder you like Cthulhu and Co. so much

Yeah, not sure what's going on with that!

I think I also have a dhole fetish.
In as much as one can be enamored of indescibeable flesh-rending worms that is.

I really love this one, the tan and tentacle like hair and the swirling retro like pattern on the top. It's really great.

You have portrayed this 'icon' really well imo.
And I like the depth I feel after looking at it for a while.
Your art has a tendency to keep my eyes attached to it for quite some time I must say.

Hey thanks. This one does go a bit deeper than surface level.
A bit of a hybrid I suppose.

Glad you stopped in!

Senecal In reply to cogwurx [2004-05-20 17:58:11 +0000 UTC]

Thanks man, this certainly is. It is a bit of a change and I find myself really loosening up and taking what I would call more artistic risks--more so than what I would have done for example, a year ago. I think this is inevitable. After you make a set of images a certain way it is a matter of new exploration, even if the ground has already been covered in part. So, yeah your keen sense of observation is picking up on the subtleties!

Appreciate you swinging by.

For long, I have not commented on your work- because I haven't anything to say other than the generic "Wow, cools".

I thought, as now, I should express my true feelings about your work, to date.

It fucking rocks, don't worry about the pixel stretching. I think it spreads a bit of colour/s and texture around, and for long have I been aspired at your skills of "digital framing" and tends to bring out about a new sense of depth.

And by the way; is that eye from the opposite side of the head of which it originally came from? Looks like it came from the right side of the figure's face.

Forgive my rudeness- but what hardware do you use, wacom tablet or a mouse? If a tablet, suggest a good make I can steal grannies handbags for.

Rock on mate -- NAY -- amigo.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Senecal In reply to asphalt-resistance [2004-05-20 14:07:13 +0000 UTC]

Rock on man.

Yeah the eye is repeated. There are some species of fish, I think flounder which, as they age one of their eyes gravitates toward the other side of the head until eventually, both eyes are on the same side. This is a bit of an exaggeration of that to reinforce the water theme.

Naiad, of course, is also a water spirit from classic literature.

And yeah I am all about using the tablet.
Wacom tablets are the top of the line out there. Within the Wacome brand, I'd look at the Intuos line of tablets.

I use a 12x12 both on my own time and at work but I know people who use 6x8s with no problem.

A 12x12 will run about $400 when all is said and done with shipping but they are very much worth it. Drawing with a mouse is like using a bar of soap. Not at all what you need for subtle intricacies and fine linework. I would recommend using a tablet even though they are a little pricey.

as for stretching....well done and used. tried to combine such digital effects with the drawn lines in some of my recent pieces as well, but most of the time, misserably failed
symbolistic indeed. the colors on the right give it a very interesting aspect. slightly and silently it seems, but powerful combined with the other colors (the red is stunning, once the eye focused on it,- and also if the viewer gets aware of that the 'eyes' in there also stare that way- the top eye's blue makes a supercool contrast to the red, imo; it is this eye that is pasted onto the painting, the one, which 'ranges' out from the painting. great and very hidden effect, imo)
if that's a larva before her heart (or simply on the right picture bottom) i don't manage to give it a more certain meaning other than it crawls over/through the painting, which already is something though.
also nice how you've handled the bright areas

k.
