Thanks to =c3ph31d for making the tutorial [link] that gave me the idea

This took a while to get out, my pc kept dieing a few hours in each time i tried to render it, so i had to end up doing a smaller version, i will re-render a larger version for wallpapers (if anyone wants them) another day when i work out what's screwing my pc up =\

Hmm I haven't done any 3D stuff for ages, but C4D it's been about 5 years lol.

I don't really remember how to do it, I think it was just spline circles in a loft thing, lit by a hdri

sentimentalfreak In reply to xelxel [2010-10-21 01:00:57 +0000 UTC]

Hmm I think it's all about the material and hdri combination, I used some kind of transparent material, fresnel reflection, dark blueish.

I can't remember what the hdri looked like, seems like it had trees and stuff. I think I added a little glow in photoshop too.

i couldn't even wrap my head around the processes it takes to make these things

seriously, great job.

sentimentalfreak In reply to NativeMaid [2010-04-30 17:04:25 +0000 UTC]

Well, first you need a 3d app that you're familiar with or learn. Then model some kind of spline lathe, apply some kind of fresnel reflective texture and light with an appropriate hdri equirectangular image....

Or... something.

Melbourne And I'm at tafe, diploma of arts/ceramics. Though I did feel like you did when I was in school, but really most jobs come with just as much stress.

Sounds like a hard year indeed, with all that going on did you finish up ok in school?

Hang in there, best to get all that school stuff out of the way while you can I mostly do ceramics with a little traditional art/design stuff thrown in, it's really very good. A lot of work but still, if you are doing something you like, it's not really work

Is that an email that you use for msn? I must say I'm not really one to email... or check email... ever

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nomad1618 In reply to sentimentalfreak [2009-11-01 10:59:06 +0000 UTC]

Thank you im so looking forward to finishing, and yes an email, for msn... haha, but thats okay not everyone is into it. we can always do with deviant art. What has your night been like? Mine was rather interesting, with the conclusion to the famous wuthering heights i was amazed, and astounded by its brilliance. lol sorry if that bores you. lol and thanks for the photo comment. =] glad you liked it xx

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sentimentalfreak In reply to Nomad1618 [2009-11-01 11:50:17 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome. My night has been a little boring, I can't do much I'm still recovering from doing a 16 hour wood firing at school, everything is sore My mum has her internet friend over, awkward.

And it's hardly boring I saw wuthering heights was on but kept clicking through.... Perhaps a little girly for me.

SO... I can add you to msn?

Nomad1618 In reply to sentimentalfreak [2009-11-01 12:10:59 +0000 UTC]

lol i guess some nights are like that, 16 hours? wow! thats a lot of time to be working on something, it sounds dangerous which seems exciting! lol well yes your right there it probably is! Yes ofcourse you can!

sentimentalfreak In reply to Nomad1618 [2009-11-01 12:17:42 +0000 UTC]

It is very ummm, exciting I suppose. You end up with a great connection to the pieces being fired.

I shall add you, my msn starts with lostboy, just a heads up.
