For those of you who don't know, Saturday was Free Comic Book Day, a day devised by the major comic publishers to try and entice new readers into the wonderful world of comics by giving out special issues for... well, free.So why is it that the first store I went to on this wonderful day was charging 75 cents for these books, which are supposed to be free?

They were WORTH .75? Most of the ones I saw were pretty shit.
The comic shop by my house had a HUGE ASS sale though, so that's were the good ones came from.

ugh, what the fuck!?! That shop is acting like it' missing out on all that much for giving away comics for free. Dick move right there.

I went to Forbidden Planet.
Asked them for some free comics, [they were behind the till] they handed me over three. There were like, at least 10 different types.
I raged.
Then went to another comic book store & GOT MORE THAN I COULD CARRY & THEN ALL WAS WELL IN THE WORLD...
But you got ripped off.

Eh. My son is getting my insanely huge collection of comic books. Which includes several dozen signed books, the doomsday book signed, a couple Jude Miller signed, X Men onslaught signed and god knows what else I've got tucked away. He's also getting my first edition Shi and tons of older books.
Shame none of them are worth crap anymore, they went the way of baseball cards. tsk tsk.
Lets all just pray they don't fall down to the level of beanie babies.

I've had several stores do similar things.. It does cost them about $0.50 per comic. Honestly, they should be able to make that up in sales if managed by any one even half intelligent..

Hm.. I think I got that number from the Heroclix promos. Which I suppose would cost more then a comic. Regardless, it's very tacky. I once went to a store where all they did was give you back issues they couldn't sell..
