Nope, afraid not. Practice and learning a little bit colour theory, I guess. There's no such things as a rule in colour selection.

hi, i confess i haven't read the other replies but isn't that the 'lock transparent pixels' button rather than the 'lock opacity' button. It's just that if someone is trying to use your tutorial with another package like OpenCanvas then they can still use the same methods as it's got a lock transparency function too.
Either way great tutorial can't wait for the remaining three parts.
