Lizt mania is always entertaining to read about. I love the expression of poor Mr. Purple Waistcoat, and the young lady who is clearly not interested in the fangirls.

Young Lady: Na ja. Die sind immer wieso.

Mr. Purple Waistcoat is none other than a certain Herr Franz von Schober: one of Schubert's dearest friends, a good friend of Liszt as well. Wrote the libretto to one of Schubert's operas and the text to some of his Lieder(as well as Liszt's)- like "An die Musik". You can read more here: [link]

The young lady instead is CΓ©cile Mendelssohn... And there's a long story as to why she of all people is there, as well as it being a big injoke, so I don't think it's really all that important

Ah, the many, well-known dangers of Walking While Liszt (WWL).

(AKA When Fangirls attack.)

At one point they even took over his carriage, removing the horses and pulled it themselves...

I guess Liszt-mania predated Beatlemania by a little bit! Nice job on the action here.

Indeed, people say that Liszt was the first musician to create such a mania... Lisztomania was even the term used back then
... There's even a wikipedia page: [link]

I didn't realize that! Crazy to imagine people really thinking it was a disease! Thanks for the info nonetheless.
