Description
A Guardswoman with a pair of... laspistols.This image was done mostly in Flash with a bit of tweaking in Photoshop. The intention was to illustrate to you how the style of the new Sanctuary Flash Book will look like. Of course it won't be in colour, but hey, you all have imaginations. At least, that is what I hope.

Honestly? The greatest Guardsman in my opinion is Jurgen.

Jurgen is basically a Guardsman from the Ciaphas Cain novels (think Black Adder in Spaaaaaace!!!). Jurgen is a rather unsightly soldier who smells bad, makes people feel rather uncomfortable and hovers around Ciaphas like a lost labradoodle.
Oh, he is also fearless badass who is willing face any opponent that threatens his Commissar, charges into battle with a Melta-gun (one of the most powerful weapons a single person can have) with no concern to personal safety and so happens to be a Blank (think a very rare "anti-psychic") and therefore one of the few beings in the galaxy that can stare down the most horrific daemons without shitting himself. Dude is practically the Chuck Norris of Underdogs.

That is the funny thing! The Commissar needs Jurgen more than Jurgen needs him! It is a delicious reversal of the relationship between the Commissariat and the Imperial Guard. I highly recommend you read the Ciaphas Cain novels. They are an easy read, very funny and explain elements of the 40k verse that newcommers or those you are not fully part of the hobby in great (but not tedious) detail.
