I remember someone stating that model was "cheesy."

By all fact and canon right, their should be entire tabletop IG armies made ENTIRELY* of Women.
Seeing as how the Imperium only rarely mixes the sexes, something to do with......long-term incompatibility?

I think its more along the lines of having a mixed gender regiment poses more problems then it solves, for example,Β the men might be spending more time thinking about the women than fighting for the Emperor. Β
Β
Slanneshi cultists might try to cause them all to have a big orgy
Β
Chauvinists and Feminists would be out for the other gender's blood or at least put them down as being a "lesser" Human being and that would cause infighting that the enemy would exploit.Β
Β
There is also the chance of Guardsmen being more loyal to their lover/mateΒ than towards the Regiment and therefore the Imperium.
Β
And there are probably be a host of other reasons as well,Β but the point is that Mixed-gender Regiments are rare and for good reasons.

Yep, there is another model. If I remember well, I have a Catachan special weapon guardmen equipped with a Grenade Launcher that has boobies. In fact, I think I got it the reason you said, it was strange to see a women in the ranks of the GI (miniature range...), and more with the Catachans who look like an entire rambo army...
I can't find a picture to show you, but she was wearing a tight shirt, looking to the left side while holding the grenade launcher in one hand and in the other a big knife (surely to get rid of all the undesired jungle guys who aproached her xD)
PD: In fact I found it, here she is. It's not the best painted miniature of the world but at last you'll see the model. ^^

Well, women actually serve in the imperial guard and quite a lot of them too, it's just to bad that Games Workshop hasn't made any female Guardsmen... women moddels. It would be pretty cool to have women in the army as well.
Nice picture by the way

They normally have the Women segregated into Female only regiments and battlions.
They only rarely make a regiment "co-ed".

Ah, actually wasn't aware of that. Though from what I've read about the Imperium, you can't generalize anything, it's different on every world.

Rau-Le-Creuset In reply to Kimmolito [2011-09-09 21:14:48 +0000 UTC]
Not from what Caiphus Cain stated(mind you all of which is certified canon)
Caiphus stated that the Adminisortium(spelled wrong I know)Only creates co-ed regiments when their aren't enough men or women by themselves.
This usually happens as a result of 2 regiments taking severe casualties in battle, and since it would take too long to have replacements transferred from their planet of Founding, they combine understrength regiments with regiments that are likewise understrength.
Only occasionally does this result in a co-ed regiment, as they still try to combine women with women, men with men.
He says it is a result of...."Long-term incompatibility".....that and other undesirable situations that arise from co-ed troops.
Pregnancy being foremost amongst them, and uh...lovers quarrels can be a tad bit more "uncivil" when you consider both parties are...armed.
That and in-fighting over partners can lead to bad things too.
And in-so-far as Cain makes knwon the aforementioned policy is enforced on all worlds throughout the Imperium.

Lol if I had to guess, GW never made all female IG armies is because if they did......nobody would play with the males anymore....
And yes...I know that doesn't sound right.....

To be fair to GW, they didn't commission the female commissar model. It was sculpted by Chris Fitzpatrick as an "interview piece" to show them his skills. They then put it out as a North American limited edition. It was never put on general release because it wasn't felt to fit well with the general feel of models at that time.
I love your interpretation, though.
Chris went on to produce some of the best female models in the GW range, including Lucrezia Belladonna. I think he's working for Privateer Press now.
