So I've been working on those two commissions I've had for a year. The first one is one of the most difficult pieces I've ever had and I'm VERY thankful that both commissioners are so incredibly patient and wonderful! Many people would have given up on me by now!Anyway...I needed to get away from the computer but I still needed to draw and so I decided to see if I could still draw with, you know, a pencil...^_^ I've been seeing people offering pencil sketches as commissions and I thought I could maybe do that too...
Only after I finish these two commissions though!I've been meaning to do gift art for a while, I have a whole bunch of people I want to draw for whom I feel I have a friendship with, even if we don't talk all the time! Even if that feeling is only on my side, I want to show them I appreciate not only them, but the inspiration and the urge to keep improving and keep trying that they give me...
So this is one of *zambi 's gorgeous characters. I absolutely love horses and so I just had to draw little Dora. Isn't she beautiful? You can find out more about her at *zambi 's page! It's not finished yet...I'm at work and so I have to wait until I get home to continue her. I intend for this to be a finished pencil drawing with shading and everything...
Zambi deserves more than just a little sketch. So why did I put it up now? I want Zambi to tell me if she's accurate...*lol* I also decided to do a little Photoshop overlay and make her pink because that's Zambi's fav color and I thought it might amuse her...*lol*Once Zambi tells me if she's accurate, I'll probably move this to scraps and post the final when it's done instead...
So yeah...NOT done of the computer *lol*

I dunno....*blushing* I have difficulty with cute, girly looking types...I always make them look too womanly...^_^;;; I just wanted to make sure I hadn't drawn her too mature...because when i look at her, I think of a beautiful teenager...
So I'll finish her up tonight...

ya I think of her as a teenager too (she ages differently than humans lol) but I always love seeing other peoples interpretations of my own characters ^^ so really I love it and think its perfect the way it is!

She looks so beautiful. I love her eyes and how you decided to cut off the rest of her horse body. It's a nice compositional touch I think. Her hands are really elegant too.

Hehe...I'm finding the hands too blocky...but I always do that...I'm gonna be trying to make them a little more elegant and slim...

cool. I'm really liking the foreshortening on the right hand. Actually, both hands look good. Good job on that.
Man, I thought you did this with a pink pencil...It would've looked cool if it was actual pink. Oh well. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
One problem I'm seeing is that the legs (I think they're her legs) seem way too small for her body. That's about it really. Everything else looks perfect.

Well, the hands are roughs...I find them a little too blocky myself...I need to get them to be more feminine and delicate...always a difficulty for me! I'm glad you like them though...
Legs are about the same length as the arm actually...part of the issue in regards to size is that they are horse legs and so they don't have the thickness a human leg would have around the thigh and calf. That could be what's throwing you off...

And I don't know. even if it's the same length...something bout it.
Oh well, I'm prob imagining things. All in all though good job, and again...I'm jealous of those hands haha.

Na...you're probably not imagining things...I'll probably experient...this is just a sketch, I'll be finishing it proper in black and white pencil...

You should go see how Zambi draws her...she looks so adorably young and cute and innocent...and FAR more doll-like! I'm glad I atleast got the doll part!

Thanks! Hopefully she'll be even cuter when I get her finished...I'm actually quite nervous...*lol* It maked me realize just how much more 'erasable' computer art is versus the good old paper and pen...
