I'm once again participating the MythicMay challenge organized by Audre Schutte!  This year I will just be doing creature designs in the way that feels most natural to me, drawing inspiration from creatures in real life.

From the folklore of Bali comes this cannibalistic monster. Leyaks appear as normal human during the day, but at night their heads separate from their bodies and fly away, trailing their entrails with them. Their faces also change to sport long sharp fangs and a very long tongue. Leyaks haunt graveyards, feed on corpses, and are said to cause diseases. They are ruled by Queen Rangda.

I saw this as perfect opportunity to make yet another aye-aye inspired design. Aye-ayes are just perfect in how they look and the lore they come with (nevermind that they're native to Madagaskar). I was inspired by the traditional Balinese depictions of the Leyak and the masks and I thought that giving this creautre three hairless tails might make it seem like its dragging its entrails with it. I would tweak a bunch of things about this design but I just want to wrap up the challenge already. Only one more to go!
