Description Nothing is forever in life
But a memory believe it`s true
And when I gaze in the rain
i`m crying just for you

The scarlet rose has died
Lost inside the night
Left in my mind like a dream and full of pride
The scarlet rose has died

Edguy - Scarlet Rose

·····Story behind the pic·····

Rashal Sorloch, is a NPC (Non Player Character) from our RPG campaign Cyrene. Rashal was a powerful dark elf (not to be mistaken with drows, or my boyfriend will faint ) wizard since the very begining of the campaign. He's got a seat on the Seladrim (Wizard City Council) and he's the boss of the "witch-hunters" who chase the "corrupted-magic" users. Well, he was not... the most sociable person in the world, but he was helpful when the situation requiered, at least for me.

Then he was laid a trap by those he seek to destroy, and those companions in the council turned against him. Some sorcery users were already among the ranks of that council, waiting. A psycopath who was sentenced to death was set free by the conspiracy below, and he brutally murdered Rashal's lover, and their unborn child. Her name was Xante, she was a half-elf bard, who acted sometimes as a spy for him.

A few days ago Shaliara had met her up in an tavern. She said she would like to talk. So I went. She asked me if I knew Sinistra ([link] ) and if she granted what she promised. I told her yes, in my own case, but prices are very high. She disappeared some time later, Rashal went on looking for her and asked for our help.

When we were looking for her, we found the obscene scene... as well as the assassin. Rashal saw Xante's body and his child too (none knew) enraged and killed him painfully using sorcery, which was forbidden. He then took away Xante's corpse and buried her with his own hands in his tower's garden.

Shaliara, my character, arrived just when he finished and saw this scene. I went to warn him that the council knew about his sorcery-using, so he had to flee now. I will be asked to declare as a witness and I'll lie for him, but soon I could do no more (he had helped me a lot before). He then got up, and put on his porcelain mask. He left that rainy evening... and Laila and I got angrier at the Seladrim, who were completely oblivious and blind.

It was kind of odd for me: a NPC who had been always there is murdered and is no more. Xante had been with us since the begining of the campaign, 9 years ago, more or less

I had this sketch since... June-06 . It was in my queue of things to colour. Well, in fact I began colouring it 2 years ago (to show ~McNolo that I did not do anything special while colouring, I just colour). I took it the other day and finished it once and for all

Sketch was a bit messy. There are some times that I don't know what I'm really want to do: just apply the final things in colour or apply it with pencil, while sketching. So wet clothes are almost all sketched with pencil -_- When I began colouring I discovered that that was, in fact, a mess Apart form hair, which, being white didn't help a lot. I had to clean almost all pencil because it was very dirt

Hope the "wet" effects are ok enough. I'll have to improve a lot on this, though. This one was a first time doing it

Used some preety pencils on his belt and tunic. Because I suck at making most patterns. I don't have imagination for it Well, excepto for boots. I can do those because they are not symmetric so I can't mess them a lot

I have left a lot of the paper grey with just rain and wet floor. Maximizing loneliness

Nice pencils on belt and tunic from:
Sketch can be found on this: [link]

Meh, I can't help ranting...

Wow, this is very good, great job. Sad story, though. You did good with the `wetness`, don`t worry about that, and I know how it`s like to clean up a picture digitally, cleaning up the pencil... the process is endless... -_____- Well it feels like it, anyways. You also did very well with the hair, and especially because it`s white... I can`t do hair to save my life. .-. I`ve tried, and I SUCK! xD I`m best to just doing a little shadow and plain color. The belt looks awesome, and so do the boots.

So overall, great job on this. :3

PS-Yes, you do tend to rant. ._. xD

Thanks a lot! Yeah, this was one of the messier pics I have and colouring it with light colours didn't make the process easier >.<

I love doing hair, that and wrinkles are the most difficult yet the parts I enjoy most while colouring. They can be frustrating some times, but... Just let the pencil flow to do it, you can worry later about strands you didn't like

Thanks overall too

PS: Yeaaah, I love ranting. Stop me! :S

Gaaah well... I don`t know I`ve tried and it was so bad I didn`t even post it on DA. ;n;

Haha and how do I do that? ;3

I've no tutorial, I just do flowy lines with pencils and the such, like drawing weaves

Didn't do it intentionally but now I look at it, I can say you're right

I saw Phantom of the Opera only a month ago, so I can tell it's not intentional!

Glad you liked

You definitely maximized the feeling of loss and being totally alone in this pic. Neat back story too, thanks for sharing that.

Well done! Very believable wetness. Do you RP with Carmen (Bayra)? Your painting styles are quite similar.

Thank you! Yep, I do RP with Carmen, it's the same campaign as her character Laila Shaliara and Laila are very close friends (although they have different points of view ).
Yep, Carmen and I share some tips and knowledge on things we found with colours. I introduced her to Opencanvas and digital colouring . She advices me on anatomy for example (she had lessons ).
Well, thing is Carmen and I see each other almost everyday, we live very close and we have been friends since 1999 more or less
