Sounds familiar. I don't have as much time for my artwork and dA as I used to have in the past.
No, I didn't have his birthday in mind when I did this. When I saw the photos a couple of days before I knew I had to use them the next weekend.

It didn't happen very often recently that I was faster than you!
When I saw the photo on Friday it inspired me to get my oils and brushes after I had done only drawings in the last few months.

Thank you! It's been a while since my last oil painting so it was a bit like a test. I'm glad you like it.

I love drawing portraits. No were near the level or standard that you produce. I've always wanted to give oil paints ago, But I've heard that oil paint can be very difficult to use? do you have any tips or suggestions for a complete novice?

I think it depends. I for example pefer oils over acrylics because they don't dry so fast and so you have much more time to blend the colors in order to create really soft and natural shadings. When I got my first small set of oils (only 6 colors) I just played around to see how they mix on a canvas. After a while I think I got a feeling for them, but I still learn. I did the same thing also with the acrylics, but they don't really work for me. I think everyone has his preferences depending on the style of painting. So what can I suggest? I'd say: just take your time and play and see if it works for you.

Thank you for the advice. I will have to have ago with both acrylic and oil paint and just see what works for me. Thanks again. Β

Thanks! I've done black-and-white paintings with acrylics and oils in the past, but never sepia with oils. I'm not completely satisfied with the result, but I think more or less it worked.
