True, it's a wonderful piece of art It was nice that some of it was animated though Also I'm glad it was animated in that era of anime, rather than now, I think a lot of it's designs and such wouldn't translate well to the long-format, more emotional less action-oriented style of modern anime.

I think it's just because you're not used to black hair.
It's the same with my blonde wigs, everyone tells me I look great... but I feel so weird wearing them XD

Maybe, but my skin is very pale so it looks like I'm dead XD (I made my skin darker with makeup for that cosplay)
