Description
Running for his life, CT-3899, also known as Rookie had served the Grand Army of the Republic under Jedi General Anakin Skywalker, sergeant Kano and Captain Rex during the Liberation of Ryloth’s capital Lessu when they cleaned up remaining Separatist resistance pockets from the city of Resdin, finally ending him being a shinie. Serving in a special Clone Trooper and Republic Trooper role to deal with leftover Separatist resistance behind enemy lines, he became a security clone and at the End of the Clone Wars with the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems making peace to fight the Imperial rebels, he believed he had seen everything. That was until he was tasked with aiding pro-Republic forces dealing with leftover Seperatis resistance of battle droids who were supposedly not responding to the shut-down command by Count Dooku and the Seperatis Leadership. There on Corellia and later Onderon, he would learn to know one of the horrors of the Clone Wars, the so called Clone Feller, former forestation and tree harvesting droids (FTH-2857), originally build by the Logging Guild, a subsidiary of the Commerce Guild, made up of various smaller groups like the Kashyyyk Tree Harvesting Corporation, Numidia Prime Foresting, Drongar Lumber Cutting Company, Zeenada Swamp Foresting Company, Morogan Wood Harvesting, Devaron Tree-Wood Conglomerate, Florn Forestation Company, Kalee Timber Foresting, Onderon Logging Company, Corellia Forestation Harvesting, Morak Forestation Wood Productions, Aris Jungle Harvesting, New Cov Forestation Guild, Rodia Logging Company, Felucia Forestation Harvesting Commune, Thyferra Timber Corperation, Mimban Tree Cutters, Trandosha Tree Cutting Clan and some smaller others. Their harvesting droid, a hovering saw variant originally meant to cut and harvest trees so it could transport them back to a factory were the timber and wood would be used to produce various goods and items, had been reprogrammed by the Separatist Alliance during the Clone Wars, just like other mining and working equipment had been.
But unlike many who would be armored and armed, the tree harvesting lumber cutter droids, were simply reprogrammed, so that they now targeted Galactic Republic Clone Troopers and Republic Troopers as targets as well. With their hovering droid bodies, originally meant to cut down even massive trees, the harvester came in three sizes, small, medium and large and could cut trough nearly everything. Quickly the smallest variants became an organic republic and imperial forces horror even in trenches, bunkers and other urban areas, while the medium and large ones were cutting trough whole battalions and platoons on open battle fields. The biggest variant of this droids could even speed up to enemy buildings, vehicles and tanks to cut trough them as well. While not majorly accurate and without long-range weapons, these droids were fast and some Separatists even used the older, non-hovering wheel-blade variants of these during desperate defenses of their worlds. Often the Republic and Imperial Troopers hit by these droids would bleed out or die on the spot, as they had been cut into pieces, while some few lucky ones survived, but were either out of commission entirely, or in desperate need of cybernetics after arms, legs, or even parts of their torso had been cut of by these merciless droids. The only solution to avoid this fate was to amass enough firepower on these droids to destroy or break them before they arrived at the own lines. This was increasingly difficult with the larger models, as they had been given thicker armor to withstand smaller blaster rounds, while the smallest variants were so quick and agile that they were very hard to hit, even within confined urban areas and rooms or floors. Because of that this former harvesting droids, despite lacking blasters, grenade, or rocket launchers of any size and kind were rather feared, as Separatist factories on the worlds of the Logging Guild and Commerce Guild mass-produced them even during battles, knowing full well that with a little original programming these tools could be given their original wood and tree harvesting purpose to be used economically once more when the local skirmish, battle, raid or ambush was finally over and some sort of normality returned to the places they had been used before. As the Clone and Republic Trooper force around CT-3899 was cut in pieces by the local harvesting lumber cutter droids, or Clone Fellers as they were called, many locals later feared them malfunctioning as well, especially after the droid rebellion and uprising and wished to keep a distance between their areas of operation and work and those they inhabited.
