History:

Valkyire class escort was orignally one of designs for new escort ship in late 2370's, however Starfleet chose Valiant class heavy escort instead. Class was designed by Alpha Centauri shipyards or more precise Alpha Centauri Design Bureau (or ACDB). In 2380 Alpha Centauri secede from Federation and become independent nation Alpha Centauri Republic. While it secede quietly some founding members still knew about it and since it was originally Earth colony, it was considered as internal Human matter. By the time of seceding, Alpha Centauri had seven hundred and fifty million citizens, ninty percent vote for leaving. Alpha Centauri believed that Federation thus Starfleet is weak. Naive policy of Starfleet of making exploration priority was seen as endangering everyone in Federation. Fact that Starfleet didn't really had major modernization in over fifty years (starting only with 2350's) and still focusing on naive ideas that its ships need to be prioritized for exploration first, combat second was seen as weakness. Despite the fact that from late 2360's and entirety of 2370's Starfleet really did a lot in modernization and many new classes enter service far superior in all areas over previous, Alpha Centauri still saw that despite new ships, policy remains the same. Earth, center of Federation came more then once in danger and Starfleet was taken by surprise every time. With independence, Alpha Centauri become its own independent faction. It inhert massive shipyards, the Alpha Centauri Shipyards, which basically belonged to it as it was built and maintained by Alpha Centauri. It has lots of resources as well dilithium in the system and been trinary star system i was very large system. The first thing new nation did is creating its military, literaly from nothing, as Starfleet personel withdraw, Starfleet ships withdarw, Alpha Centauri was on its own, despite been surrounded by Federation.

New Alpha Centauri Navy or ACN for short, immediatley start designing and building new ships, although it did use some Starlfeet designs like Akira and Sabers which become first ships. This ships were virtually same as those of Starfleet but of course different paint job, more combat oriented equippment.... Starfleet didn't mind of ACN using the existing designs, since ACN had licence them. But ACN want something new, its own. There came Valkyrie, one of first ACN designs, originally designed but rejected for Federation Starfleet, class receive was renewed and improved, but it wont be till 2391 that new ship would be launched and in period of four years, sixteen ships will be built with four additional under construction or planned.

Valkyire is first and foremost warship. Interior was spartanically designed, not as that of Klingon Bird of Prey but close, nevertheless it was still comfortable enough for Humans. There is no science labs on board, only small infirmary, mess hall, small shuttle bay, cargo hold, and crew quarters, everything else was for weaponry and it carry quite impressive weapons. While most of weaponry is same as that of Defiant class, it is improved, with Valkyrie carrying four improved Mk II Phaser cannons, one Type X phaser bank, and three rapid firing torpedo tubes with larger torpedo carrying capabilities then that of Defiant. It also had probe-micro torpedoes as well mines. Its shields are stronger and more resilient then those of Defiant and it's hull had more ablative armor.

Ship is also faster then Defiant as it received brand new Warp core. Valkyrie was faster in Warp but also very fast and manuverable on sublight speed. On top of this it can enter atmosphere and even land, something that Defiant's and Valiants cant do, despite both of those can enter atmosphere, they were not equipped with landing struts, Valkyire on the other hand was. Valkyire carry two standard Type 10 shuttles.

Valkyire primary mission is patroling the outer Alpha Centauri system as well other Alpha Centauri territories outside the system. While class was capable on it own, in case of trouble it work in pairs or in small wolf packs. Two ships escorted Centauri president during his visit to Earh on board Akira class ship CNS James Cook. Class continue with production and Alpha Centauri expected to have in service at least thirty or so by the end of the century (2399-40).
