Description
Bulldozer Droids, Dozer Droids, also known as Crawler Dozers, Walker Dozers and Hover Dozers depending if they used legs, hovering technology or tracks. These droids were equipped with metal blades and shovels in their front to push all kinds of materials, like soil, sand, snow, rubble, or rock to aid other droids in construction and conversion work alike. Additionally a hook-like additional device, a ripper could be added at the rear to loosen up materials as well. Some Dozer Droids even were hovertrains that would aid in keeping the tracks before long, massive hovertrains free from all kind of debris, rubble and other stuff. Often operating in mines, quarries, heavy industrial factories, engineer projects, farms and even military bases. Build mainly by the Mining Guild, the Corporate Alliance and the Commerce Guild, these Dozer Droids were quickly repurposed during the Clone Wars, as some had before already used by the police and local conglomerate security against rioting populations and workers alike before. They were quickly giving additional armor and used to plow trough enemy minefields, trenches and fortified positions with their shovels, while battle droids either followed close behind them, protected by their armor, or even rode in their shovels, so they could fire upon Republic entranced defenses from a secure, elevated position themselves. With further additional armor and battle droids shooting out from embrasure in the armor, some of the Dozer Droids became more of tanks, or heavily armored vehicles that also served as trooper and battle droid transporters, especially if additional transport room was created in their back to carry and transport further forces and/ or their equipment. This way some of the Dozer Droids became outright military vehicles and in the last year of the Clone Wars, the conglomerates building them actually used the best methods to outright created these militarized versions right in their production facilities, instead of later altering them somewhere else. This often made these produced models much more secure and stable then the some more ragtag pieced together versions some Separatist technicians, mechanics and droids came up with on battlefields.
Serving as front loaders and other vehicles with dozer blades on them, these militarized vehicles would see action in some battles of the Clone Wars, as they were used to dig up own Separatist defenses, or aid breaking trough Republic and later Imperial ones when possible. Some of the droid factory build later models not only had their massive shovels with Battle Droids inside to rise before the cockpit to protect the possible organic, droid or droid brain driver had additional blasters and even heavy blasters added below this blade/ shovel so the Dozer Droids could fire upon enemy Troopers in front of them and with some even having another one attached to their back hook-like additional shovel so they could pilot it like a shooting scorpion tale to cover their back and sides if needed. This latest model make the Dozer Droids even more dangerous for enemy troopers, leading to their nickname Killdozer among enemy forces. Some walking Dozer Droids with more then one shovel even looked like outright scorpions and similar creatures. Those facing the Dozer Droids/ Killdozers, soon learned that mines and other explosives buried deep enough for the droids shovels to not bury them up and shove them aside, but to rip them apart from down under, the only area were they, their engines and drivers were either poorly armored, or not at all. While not many of this vehicles were build in total, only a couple of hundred, many thousand refitted for military purpose would see action on battlefields, often at the same time on highly industrialized, or urbanized worlds, as well as Outer Rim Colonies under heavy buildup construction. Many however were still surprised when heavy armored Dozers Droids would plow trough their defenses followed by Battle Droids, Droid transport vehicles and droid tanks to ensure their superior numbers would manage to break trough the Republic and later Imperial defense lines. Despite this usage, Dozer Droids were ill prepared for heavy blasters and all sorts of heavier weapons, like canons, rocket launchers, mortars and other weaponry like that. Some Dozer Droids even carried explosives instead of carried troopers or battle droids, so they could blow even bigger holes in Republic/ Imperial lines of defenses, or bases and bunkers for their allies to then rush with superior numbers.
