Description
Similar to the Balmorran Arms SD-9 and SG-10 Battle Droids the Droid Reclaimer was a massive behemoth, even bigger then them, a giant droid originally created as a large machine to handle bulky masses of material, like ore, cereals and others that he would shovel/ absorb into it’s hands, store inside, or trow out again at it’s back. Able to relocate several tons per hour depending on the model and size starting with the smaller DR-1 all the way to the DR-18 he could also easily travel uneven terrain to a stockpile or stockpile of mines and other areas thanks to his additional stabilization legs. This meant the droid was ideal to cover over bunkers and other Separatist facilities, help with the creation of hills, trenches and ditches to stop Republic/ Imperial infantry and other ground forces, especially walkers. It could walk forward, backward and sideways, while also rotating it’s upper half in all directions. As a massive strong Droid build to handle immense masses of stone or ore ot also already had a rather well guarded hull, that sometimes was increased with even further, additional armor. Mainly produced by the Mining Guild, Retail Caucus and the Techno Union. Some of them had massive extension cables leading back to mining and factory facilities powering them, others had massive backpack batteries and needed to return to recharging stations, while others had reactors build into them and were therefore much more mobile, so they were better usable to assist in battles and battlefields alike. Able to shovel or suck in massive amounts of materials, sometimes by combining both methods, the Separatist also had various types of Reclaimer Droids, some specialized in Bridge and Port works in wet, swampy or watery environment, others simply used as massive carriers. Some even transported destroyed battle droid scrap from battlefields back to the factories were they could be reused, rebuild and repaired. The more they were used to assist in battles, the more the droids themselves, possible drivers, or their separatist Commanders learned how to better use them as well. At first used in trenches and fortified positions, soon some started to stack piles in circular positions.
This way they would fortify more bunkers, defensive positions or even other large droids, vehicles and defensive positions that were entrenched in circles, defensive positions and other surrounding hills, earth or other mounts of materials to either hide, camouflage and protect them. However the Galactic Republic and later the Galactic Empire were no fools either and quickly specifically targeted this massive droids that aided the Separatist Droid Armies in their defenses and sometimes even offenses to ensure they could no longer use them. Sometimes this meant simply destroying their power cables or recharge stations with precise strikes, making them massive, no longer movable wrecks, others targeted the giant and hard to hide droids themselves. Because of this some of the Reclaimer Droids quickly gained additional armor, or weaponry to protect themselves against such attacks, meaning they themselves became massive direct battle droids and weapons, no longer simple reused civil droids. Depending on the world they were stationed on some of them specialized on anti-air, others on anti-infantry and anti-vehicle weapons specialized in their local needs and what the enemy was trowing at them. As the Droid Reclaimer or Reclaiemr Droids were however not only massive targets, but had immense costs in credits not payed back during war, few of them were truly build for assist in battle, even on besieged worlds or those fought upon. Most were simply reused and partly rebuild to fit the new situations once an enemy force had already invaded, or was clearly on route to their worlds, so the local independent system governments and forces, as well as those of the Confederate Conglomerates of the Separatist Alliance were could count on their support for defensive works, or to hide secret, separatist installations deep underground without going trough the trouble to have to build them underground itself, as doing so would often massively increase the credit costs, something many Separatist Conglomerates were not very supportive of. Not many of these Reclaimer Droids would survive the Clone Wars, most only by doing so in the Outer Rim, either outside of direct battle fields, or being still somewhat operational when the Clone Wars ended.
