I am finally done with my Masterthesis work!!! I can't express my hapiness and gratitude that this half-year long project is finally done. I never did something more demanding in my life.
So, on to the project itself. Villages tend to be left behind nowadays and with them rural building traditions, that have so much creative richness in all their details. This mainly was the reason for me to focus my last big project for university on an areal with five existing buildings. The village they belong to was brimming with life until those were abandoned and I made it my task to give that live back again. The design includes a big public building that 100 years back has been a cow and pig stable, together with gastronomy. While the existing restaurant and the connected buildings, together with a new addition were transformed in dwellings for elderly people as well as a nice new patio. The whole living situation is oriented on the typical life in a village those people will be used to, like each unit has their own entry from the outside and you still can go about your daily business on your own and by foot, since everything necessary is in a walking distance of just a few steps, including a doctor and a supermarket. The connection of highly public functions with habitation guarantees a lively surrounding for elder people that might not have the chance any more to take part in public life as they were used to in younger days. Furthermore the connection from old and new allows people to actually choose a dwelling from very different options, since I put a great focus on using existing building parts in the transformation process, which makes each habitat totally unique.

I pictured I never actually show you guys what the models I take my photos of look like in an overall expression. So here you go, this is one of the two bigger ones I did for that project, showing a part of the new to be built part.

On other news I tried a new kind of signature, giving more infos on the actual content, while at the same time not taking a prominent role on the image itself. Let me know what you think of that.
