A smaller Decepticon --not much taller than Rumble, stood quietly and just level with the guardian’s thigh. Megatron stands at the feet of his entrusted guardian, Shockwave. This is another older piece. I did several illustrations @ Seibertron.com when I first began to restore and bring the TF G1 ‘Metatisic’ story to the web in 2004. Since I’ve begun to offer the saga here at DeviantART however, the more I’ve noticed that none of these pieces are in my galleries here at all and I’m not sure exactly why. Either I thought I had them up already, or I did at one time but retired them in order to clean up my deviations for new work.

I like this version of young Megatron though In my OPINION he shouldn't have the heavy armor of his adult frame though I am just giving my opinion

On one hand I want to hug him, on the other, I get the eerie feeling that he should be left alone.
I've sat here for awhile, trying to figure out how to write my reaction to this image. I love the idea of a young Megatron who isn't cutesy or a baby because he has such enormous potential even at a young age. The whole galaxy will change because of him. I'm going to read this series here in your gallery. I'm excited.

I love seeing how others depict younger versions of canon characters, and this is EXACTLY how I see a young Megatron. I have a feeling that Megatron sees Shockwave as his protector a lot in this series. If I'm wrong, sue me. XD I still love it!

Thank you very much. This is one of the first illustrations I did when I first released the story to the web in 2004. At that moment not only was I still learning to color w/ a computer, but I hadn’t drawn anything Transformers related since 1993! I really didn’t know how well this would turn out so I’m glad it still has standing power when I consider how much I’ve changed/learned using CGI since then.
I should have put this in the author notes, and I still might, but one of the #1 things had to fight against in depicting Megatron as a younger mech is that it would be mistaken for something ‘Chibi’ or ‘Kawaii’. All children are adorable, yes that’s true, but there a serious nature and sequence of events going in the Metatisic Saga that was never meant to be taken as something cutesy. This isn’t ‘Muppet Babies’ in other words and so I’m glad you can see and understand that immediately. I appreciate it.
Shockwave is a protector, yes. Trust me ...this will all make sense. Everything I did in the story I did to base or root off real canon events and plausible situations. If you remember my saying before that despite that the TF marvel comics relished in painting Shockwave as a Decepticon with evil, hidden agendas against Megatron, he is in fact the most loyal of Megatron’s followers in the cartoon defending him numerous times, shooting Starscream when he talked badly of his command, and (One of my favorite scenes) becoming very worried when Megatron didn’t answer him right away after the time ran out on the bomb in Dr. Archeville’s lab. Megatron also speaks fondly of him so all of those things told me there was a deep, respectful history between them.

I'm such a sucker for watching Megatron/Shockwave scenes over and over again. Trust me, I can totally understand what you're seeing. Not only that, but he even shows compassion to Megatron by wishing him a safe journey back to Earth when he gets teleported by the space-bridge. XD
I'm actually interested in seeing some later work from you [I mean new work]. I can see that you've generally been a great artist from your works all the way back in the 90's, so I'm sure a more recent work would blow me away.

I loved that scene from ‘Countdown to Extinction’ when the bomb is about to blow up in Archeville’s lab. It’s really the one time I heard ‘panic’ in Shockwave’s voice: “Megatron? .... MEGATRON ARE YOU STILL THERE?!” And how relieved afterwards when Megatron reassured him that everything was fine. Another moment I enjoy –one I fed off a lot when it came to writing the story-- was actually a mentioning made by Starscream that isn’t acknowledged all that much however. It was in ‘Starscream’s Brigade’ where he’s jealously mocking Megatron saying ‘Shockwave this. Shockwave that ...all I ever hear about is how great Shockwave is!” That gave me the impression that Megatron speaks favorably of him often.

Oh man, that's like on of my fave scenes. XD Someone was asking me the other day why I like Megatron/Shockwave so much and my thoughts on them. I explained pretty much how it's just a very canon pairing, and I told them about Starscream being exiled in that scene over an argument of Shockwave [amongst other scenes they share together]. I like in The Revenge Of Bruticus how they are locked up behind bars and how Shockwave is all "Liar!" XD I love it so much. I can certainly see Starscream and Shockwave getting in a tonne of arguments.
