So the Discovery Channel's 10 Deadliest Sharks graphic novel hits shelves today!Several artists worked on this book, and I figured since its being released today its to safe to show you an example of my contribution.
I did 10 double page spreads just like this of Showing the anatomy and unique features of all the Sharks. Each one of these drawings are followed by a short story demonstrating how and why they're one of the 10 ten deadliest sharks. Its really a great book for all ages! Everyone that loves Discovery Channel's Shark week needs to buy this book!

I used to have a big book on sharks and recall the Lemon Shark being one of the notable ones, but I never knew them to be particularly dangerous. Perhaps divers around the reefs where the species lives have a different perspective on them. I do know that they get to a mid-size range (about 10 feet long), but I usually equate the Tiger Shark, Hammerhead and Great White with the "deadly shark" tag.
In my area, there are rarely shark attacks, but we do have a mid-range species (the Sand Tiger or Sandbar Shark) that has been implicated in deadly shark attacks. A place on the New Jersey coast had a rash of fatal shark attacks back in the early 20th Century, and since the ban on shark fishing during the 1990s the incidence of attacks on swimmers on the Atlantic coast of the United States has had a spike. A simple solution to this is to know what shark habits are (feeding mostly at dawn and dusk, prowling shallows during high tide, etc) and avoiding actions which may attract them. They're not particularly good choosers when it comes to what they bite, and their habits might be to wound so as to cripple a prey in order to avoid unnecessary injuries inflicted while struggling with them, hence the quick strike and swim off to return for another bite.

Bull sharks are sneaky, hiding in murky, dark water...gross. lol...and tiger sharks remind me of pitt bulls (that's why they're my favorite). And don't even get me STARTED on megalodon! Lol...

More likely, scars from bites from other sharks, either in feeding frenzies or by mating. When making babies, sharks aren't gentle. Also, in feeding frenzies, sharks can just bite at anything that passes in front of them, including each other.
