was playing around on twitter with some redesigns of porgs/fathiers from The Last Jedi, along with a definitelyΒ not-at-all-serious take on what Porgs would look like if they had hidden extendable necks like green heronsPorgs: what if they had just a bit more actual puffin-esque anatomy and were less blobs on sticks
Fathiers: one of a multitude of versions that just leans into the plant-eater aspects of their design, kinda want to do a version that leans into their Big Ol' Racing Cats vibe as well
in before "did you know porgs were used to cover up the native puffins on Skellig Island"

Personally, I always saw the fathers as a horse/greyhound cross, but your idea is an interesting one. (I don't even remember hearing of 'racing cats')

i'm actually kinda surprised they didn't go with the extendable necks for the porgs--could've led to some legitimately funny moments, kinda like hack of Skyward SwordΒ that stretches Link's neck in hilarious ways

The porgs are pretty cute. I heard that they were designed to mask the puffins that were all over the island, rather than film somewhere else or move the puffins altogether. That's why they look like that.Β

Very nice! The feet of the Falthier in particular remind me of some of Terryl Whitlach's creature designs for the prequels and the Wildlife of Star Wars book, like the Gualama .

i like your fathiers better! they look much more alien rather than cutsey things. i would literally die laughing (as in i'd probably fall to my death) if i saw a porg do that. i mean... holy shit

A gazelle, a penguin, a duck, a sparrow, a tiger, and one of those dinosaurs that Star Wars used. Kind of weird, but good depiction skills!
