Name: Daiyu Meng Jin

Gang: Ashbirds

Bending Technique:
Air Punches/ Kicks - Once more the air has become more compressed, attacks can cause heavy bruising
Shield of Air- Creates a protective shield of air that protects Daiyu from attacks aimed at her front, sides and back. Air shoots outwards, throwing back attacks and flinging back enemies. Depending on the enemy’s weight will influence how far they are pushed back, from 10 feet (for the heaviest) and increasing as the weight decreases. She can block Lvl 4 and lower attacks.
Air Blade- Slices are stronger now, is able to cut through wood, can cut people and cause more serious bleeding, but not deep enough to be lethal, can also cut into stone.
Bending Knowledge (Water)- Daiyu has studied about the bending style of water. She has a proficient knowledge of the bending style (as well as fire and air), with a great understanding its strengths and weaknesses, plus more.
Air Whip- A bending move Daiyu created, inspired by the fire whip. It’s a difficult move to perform and in order to keep up, Daiyu must constantly move her arms or the whip will dissipate. The whip is like a thin tornado that moves like a whip and can bruise opponents. It can reach a distance of 10 feet.

Personality: Since Daiyu has joined the Ashbirds, she has matured but has also gained some more faults. She tends to be much nicer to people she first meets, only acting like a bitch towards to people she grows to dislike. She still has some issues loosening up, being a tight-ass over certain things (especially towards missions.) She likes to have plans, plans that are well thought out, and will often spend time doing research before doing a mission. Daiyu is one for the more elaborate scams, some that will take more than a night, but when successful, she'll get more than just a pocket full of gold. Daiyu rarely talks about her personal life with people though. She keeps her private life very, very private. However, after Daiyu was disowned, she turned to alcohol to help her depression. Since then, when she gets very upset, its more than likely one will find her with a bottle of alcohol in her hand.

Past: Daiyu grew up in a family of firebenders, but discovered at a young age she was in fact an airbender. Eventually her mother grew sick and the medication the doctor prescribed was expensive, and Daiyu's father didn't have enough money to pay for the medication and support his firebending school and family. Daiyu ended up joining the Ashbirds to help make money to buy the medication. She stayed with the Ashbirds, but eventually her father discovered her connection with the gang. After being disowned and being challenged to an Agni Kai, which resulted with a large burn on her back, Daiyu was in distraught. Along with learning about Maksa's death, Daiyu turned to alcohol to help cope with the depression. After getting kicked in the ass by Shai, she eventually turned her time to learning all she can on bending styles. For 2 years she had her great-grandmother teach her about airbending, and forced Huojin to teach her about firebending when he had time. She became a raptor along the way. During those two years though, Daiyu’s mother grew sicker and even the medicine no longer helped her. Then her mother passed away. Daiyu was worse off than when she was disowned. She once more turned to alcohol and had a mental breakdown over the death of her mother. Needing to get away from Jingdou, Daiyu decided she should go to the Northern Water Tribe to properly learn about Waterbending.

Present: Daiyu ended up devising a giant scam that would allow her to stay at the Northern Water tribe for an extended amount of time. Daiyu went to the North Pole and for the year she stayed there, she sold furs that the Ashbirds aquired by stealing, poaching, etc. By introducing these new furs, young fashionable girls, and fashionable nobles flocked to buy the new furs to line their coats with instead of the typical white polar dog furs. Then when they drove the Water Tribe trappers businesses to the ground, she bought the polar dog furs for a cheap price, shipping them back to Jingdou to be sold at a high price. This went on for about a year, while Daiyu studied waterbending. Recently she got an urgent letter from Shai telling her to come home. She left quickly before the letter from Juilan/ Huojin arrived, telling her about Huojin’s departure. Now back at Jingdou, Daiyu hasn’t taken all the changes to well, but she’s trying.

Future: Daiyu has lots of goals. She wants to know everything she can about all the bending styles, and eventually open a bending school in Jingdou. She also wants to challenge her father or an Agni Kai and win, a need for revenge for everything, and then to take her younger siblings so she can properly care for them.

Other Notes:
-Daiyu’s want to learn about the different bending styles was inspired by different things, but her biggest inspiration was Maksa’s lesson about the earth bending stance and how it was a good way to help absorb impacts.
-She has a pearl-handled knife she keeps in her sash, and her staff was given to her by her great-grandmother. Her grandma believes a glider is an important asset to airbenders, and since Daiyu has no desire to want to glide, she gave Daiyu a staff to use. Daiyu rarely uses it though.
-Her purse was a gift from a friend of her’s who lives in the North Pole.
-She has her left side of her tattoos done while in the North Pole, as well as having her right side re-tattooed over scars, and had the air/fire symbol done as well.
-The silhouette of Min by Daiyu’s shoulder is a size reference.
-Min is a hamster cat, a grumpy little thing who doesn’t like many. Daiyu loves her though and even taught the hamster cat to stick small valuables in her cheek pockets.
-Her apartment is FILLED with scrolls. She’s definitely become quite the scholar since she’s become an Ashbird
-Changed her last name to Jin, which means gold, since she's been disowned. She's unsure if she'll ever go back to Meng.
-She's an idiotic sad drunk. She'll do stupid things to feel happy at first, but usually ends up bawling her eyes out by the end.

-You may not seriously harm my character, if you really want to, ask and we can discuss this.
-For the Ashbird mission, Daiyu will probably make your character help organize scrolls, carry them around, do some kind of paperwork. She doesn’t take kindly to complaining, but if your character is good, she may just teach your character some things about bending, like weaknesses, strengths, etc.
