This is an older artwork of mine that grew from testing my new drawing tablet. It's not very good, but it serves as a reminder of where I started.

As for the picture itself, I am and always will be a Generation I Pokemon fan. It really was an awesome idea when it was brand new. Just picture this: It's the 1990's and you are beginning your first ever pokemon journey. You meet professor Oak, who gives you a choice. Which of the three starting pokemon would you choose?

Would you pick Charmander, the adorably awesome fire lizard that grew into a dragon, but was difficult to maintain? How about Squirtle, the cute sea turtle that grows to become a giant tortoise cannon? Or maybe Bulbasaur, the easy-to-care-for plant/frog that becomes a tank-toad with solarbeam?

For me, while I liked Charmander the most, Bulbasaur drew me in with his abilities that proved incredibly useful in the game, like leech seed, razor leaf, and vine whip. So many battles hinged on my Venusaur where he used leech seed to buy time for the final strike. A dramatically underrated starter, he grew on me quickly as I was able to have a Venusaur for my grass-type, Gyarados as my water-type replacement, and Arcanine for my fire-type.

To this day, Venusaur and I still roam the land, friends for over 15 years.
