This is Sammy, a fox who decide to be photogenic.

He's a gray fox who happens to only have three legs.

Unlike pelts that are damaged because of trapping, Sam's leg shows signs that this occurred prior to his death. The skin and fur is underdeveloped compared to his left leg, leading me to believe he was born with a birth defect or injured himself and lost the leg before he was skinned.

On another note, Sam is really big for a gray. He measures around 46" long. Not the largest in the world, but pretty darn big for a guy who lived life with 1/4 of him missing. He's 100% thug though. I can totally see him running his side of the forest like a boss. Shows that nature has a way of never giving up !

This pelt is solely for furthering of my studies about of natural world. I respect this pelt the same way I would respect a living creature.

I am unsure of the cause of Sam's death.

I'm quite humbled to care for the remains this beautiful creature and I treat him with the highest respect. He is used as an invaluable art reference as well as an educational piece.
