I used to work as a pest exterminator before I went out of business for some unknown reason.
People would call me to get rid of their pests, best way to do that was by setting the house on fire.
This worked well, you could see all the rats mice, and everything else  scurry away as the house went
in a blaze.

It's a shame to let a well built home go
downhill, nice straight roofline. pip

There are several houses like that, people want new
instead of maintaining what is, or improving!
My mother replaces her authentic wood cabinet
for particle wood or plywood whatever--less
than authentic fake wood. Haaa! Because
if gave her kitchen a modern facelift in the 80's--she
wishes now she hadn't. The cabinets she
had would cost a fortune to replicate
today! But it seems we like shiny
and modern over substance (sometimes)!

I've made a couple pieces of furniture:
a big round coffee table and a 3 piece
entertainment center ensemble, easily
disassembled and reversed when needed
for different layouts. Self designed, of
course, built in '72 and moved 14 times
at last count. When it's all loaded up
with components, speakers, LPs, books
and 50" TV, it weighs maybe a quarter
of a ton. It's 10 ft long, and can even
go around a corner if need be.

I can't part with any of it, even though
it's not pretty any more, if it ever really
was. Functional!

O I think that's wonderful----an artisan you are!
I'd move it again and again if needed.
