Your work is incredible! I have always dreamed of sewing my own clothes and costumes, and I recently started learning to play my grandfather's violin, so this is a double dose of inspiration.

I love this, reminds me a lot of the Aetherblades from Guild Wars 2.

Wow! This is great! I'd love to have a jacket made like this. I'm going to look into getting that book.

It's a fantastic book. The instructions take some serious deciphering, as they bear very little relation to what modern tailoring I am familiar with, but if you can muddle through that it's an invaluable resource.

I'm new to sewing, so hopefully I catch on quick! But everything about yours is just perfect- The coloring, the art on the back. Just great!

Congrats on the DD dear! I thought I saw something familiar down in the DD section and low and behold it was you! I can't remeber if I saw the final product or not, but I do remember the lovely protoype of yours! Congrats once again for a well deserved DD.

My intention was to present an aesthetic between jacket and waistcoat, giving a more finished appearance than a typical waistcoat (which usually looks like it needs a jacket to finish the outfit) without the full coverage of an actual jacket. Historically inspired, modern garment.

Similar in many respects, yes. It is based off Victorian military patterns.

I love that this is colorful. Too much steampunk clothing, especially the men's stuff, is so muted, when people from that era in the real world liked bright colors!

This is also why I like Girl Genius more than the grittier things under the general steampunk umbrella; Phil's character designs are full of vibrant outfits.

Haha. d:
Oh, by the way, a little question: how much time did it take for you to make it? (and I repeat: DAMN this vest is amazing.)
