I'm probably the only person not doing a stuffed belly pic for Thanksgiving [2015] (granted, it's past midnight, but screw it! I don't care!).
Howard bakes special pies for each member of the family because they all have different favorites. However, Tom is (at least) trying to cut back on sweets. In the end, he can't lie to himself and gives in to his desires
James and Howard both have the ability to detect changes in weight (Howard, because he's a perv and James because he's a doctor of multiple fields). While James does not approve of stress eating, he would prefer Tom have THAT habit over being an alcoholic (which is a distinguishing trait in the Marker family); it's the lesser of the two evils.
Howard's taste in body types is a little weird; he finds muscle-y and chubby people both attractive because skinny people remind him of when he was growing up and there was a famine. I guess you could say he has PTSD with skinny people Since Tom never expressed an interest in body-building like Tim, Howard will happily fatten up his grandson

On a side note, Thanksgiving always makes me miss my late Grandma Glory; she made the best chocolate mousse pie
