Job: Soldier/bodyguard – Rista's main job is being Ayre's bodyguard, but he also tends to take on the more…ehh…questionable jobs (if it's something no one else wants to do, it's usually forced on him.) He’s reserved by nature, which makes even the other guards keep their distance. Only Keir seems unaffected by his moody nature.

Talents: He is incredibly agile and flexible, which makes him nearly impossible to catch. His smaller body, 5’8”, usually helps him stay hidden, but it’s also a weak point. He isn’t physically strong despite his best efforts, and he can’t take a punch. If he’s ever pinned or if an enemy lands a good punch, he is done for. He can use pretty much any object as a weapon (earrings, books...pillows.. toothbrush..)

Personality: Rista has always been a loner. His face seems to be set into a perpetual scowl and there are multiple rumors about what he does in his spare time (eating naughty children seems to be high on the list) but the truth is he is actually very lonely. He is incredibly kind and caring and does his best to help those around him without them knowing. Even his callous and snobby attitude is all an act he puts on in an effort to protect others. He's convinced he brings only badluck since he's 'an unlucky black cat' and is only doing his best to try to keep others (and himself) from being hurt. He secretly longs for someone to talk to, but always assumes the other person will find him lacking. He is incredibly loyal to the few people who manage to get close to him and is very protective and possessive.

History: Despite being a Nekomata, Rista was abandoned at an early age in a village consisting mostly of hellhounds. He was taken in by a kind griffin woman who he became very close to and considered like a mother.

When he was old enough, Rista was sent to combat classes in accordance to village law. It was at that point that the trouble started. Even by Nekomata standards he was on the short side, but compared to the male hellhounds he was down right puny. Things quickly got worse when a few of the other boys over heard him discussing classic literature with the town bookkeeper. Not exactly known for their mental capacities, the hellhounds instantly set about trying to help the nekomata forget his silly books and focus on the more important skill of killing things.

When Rista tried to tell the teachers that he didn't believe in fighting, it was decided that the best way of 'helping' him understand was to allow the class to take turns in physically beating all of those silly notions out of him. The teachers called it 'character building.'

Along with the beatings, Rista was constantly picked on for the vertical markings over his right eye and his fluffy tail which went directly against everything the villagers considered aesthetically pleasing. He did his best to conform, growing his hair longer on the right side and constantly trying to slick down his tail with wax. He even went as far as to hide his precious books, but no matter what he did, he was continuously ostracized.

It was at that point that his attitude began to change. Once kind and timid, he quickly became moody and belligerent. After a particularly cruel remark about being thrown away by his own mother, Rista was nearly kicked out of the village for very almost killing the boys that had tormented him for so long.

It seemed their 'character building' had more of an affect than the villagers had anticipated. Instead of the jeers that had once followed him, Rista's presence was met with frightened whispers and sneers of, "THAT'S what happens when you allow a mongrel in to the village."

When he was fourteen he was recruited by a man in black referred only to as 'Master 'who began training him to become an assassin. He escaped a few years later and found his way to Alora when he was 17.

DON'T TOUCH HIM! His tail may look fluffy and cute, but people have lost fingers...

Pretty much everything he has is a weapon of some sort. He has three earrings in his right ear that can be used as lock picks. The cuff on his tail can be thrown like a shuriken and his belt buckle is a holster for two small daggers. There are many other weapons, but you won't find them with anything less than a strip search and no one has been brave (or suicidal) enough to try.

In his free time, Rista loves to read. His entire house is filled with stacks of books high enough to be considered dangerous. If you were to look at the books on top or laying around, you would find mostly military history with the odd biography throw in...if you were to look closely though, you would notice those books have never even been opened while in the darker corners of the house, well hidden by the stacks, are shelves of well worn fairytales and romances.

He is originally from Elavernis, left when he was fourteen after his foster mother died.

He has 0 cold tolerance. As soon as he gets cold, his body begins to slow down and his reactions get messy. It also makes him ridiculously clingy and affectionate since he'll do anything for some extra body heat (though he usually has little to no memory of what he did)

Rista is a virgin who has only recently gotten his first kiss (don't bring it up. It still makes his eye twitch*)

He's single

he has incredibly low self esteem but hides it by acting arrogant

He thinks he's straight though he's actually probably gay...and an uke

uke or not, he'll own you in the face. He won't just fall into your arms no matter how lonely he is so seducing him takes loooots of work.

He is VERY racist and aggressive towards hellhounds which comes from an extreme fear of them. It's probably a fear he'll have all his life despite having some hellhound friends (he considers them rare exceptions.)

He hates water but only because he hates the way his hair curls and how his tail feels when wet.

His mother was a book binder which is how he learned the skill. She also wrote a book just for him and would read it every night. The book was lost after her death and he has been obsessively searching for it ever since.
