I like this one a lot. Feels like I can reach right into it and touch the scene. Very sad too, the war on terror probably has the largest suicide rate of any previous conflict, with no end in sight

I've wanted to do a peice like this for a long time now..but everytime I start, it's like instant creative block. I can talk to doctors, family, fellow vets...all about PTSD issues, but I can't put it to canvis for some reason. Thanks for posting this...the support, and the understanding.

your welcome. I just graduated bootcamp a few days ago and am very excited to start doing art from a whole new perspective now that I AM a Marine. Thank-you for your service.

thank-you, I talked to a few people before I started this so that I could portray parts of what PTSD is as best I could. whats crazy is only people with PTSD really understand this piece, a lot of people I show it to don't get it at all or see the connection between all the elements.

civilians will never fully understand what the military soldier really goes through for other's freedom. Ignorance is sad...

I don't see how people could get mad about this. Its sad really, i have had my fair share of bad experiences, and have felt the icy grip of death rech into my body and grab my soul by my heart through my chest, ready to take me from this earth at any given second. Its hard for someone to get over things like that. I could imagine what combat is like, and it sends chills up my spine just the same.

A drawing can stir up many different emotions for people, I don't mind if they get mad at the content, it's better than not understanding what it's saying or seeing no purpose! Thanks for the comment, I completely understand your statement, it takes some kind of understanding to draw this kind of content I think. Are you a Marine? (just judging by your name "Jarhead")

Im not a Marine, but more of a snuffy in the way that i study every aspect of the Marine Corps, and try to understand them in the best way that a civilian can. Im currently working with my local recruiter, and hopefully will someday take my place among the Few and the Proud at Parris Island MCRD.

at least now you can spend the rest of your life telling people you were in the marines. That's what you wanted, right?

Unfortunately, this happens in any military conflict. All we can do is show our support and pray for those who suffer.

The feds have the nerve to cut soldiers loose after risking their lives and throwing them in prison.

Yes, 5 years from now everyones going to realize how bad this problem really is. I love the saying thats scribbled on an old sketch book from a combat artist from world war 2, "for some of us this war will never end" and it's true. thanks for viewing and for the favorite.

Hey, thank-you very much! I'm also doing a project for my senior art exhibit where I am collecting peoples stories past and present that relates to the struggles of war in any way and turning the stories into illustrations. Feel free to get back at me if you wish to share, or not. I completely understand. I'm glad you can see this illustration for what it is and I wish you the best.
