Description Thunder rolled in loud waves, and lighting clashed against a dark sky, briefly casting a bluish-white glow on the darkened city. The streets were barren as you pulled your coat closer to your body and looked around. You spotted Freddy Fazbear's Pizza not too far away but because it was around ten o'clock, it was likely closed. You sighed. These conditions were none too good to walk home in. Another bolt of lightning tore at the sky, briefly lighting up an alley way to your right. A couple of cardboard boxes surrounded a thick, opened crate. Looking over it, it appeared empty and dry, and would be a good place to stay until the wether cleared, even with its undesirable appearance. Besides, it had been raining for the past few hours and with water up to the ankles of your boots, you had little choice at this point.

Quickly scrambling into the alleyway, you sat in the large crate and pulled your knees up to your chest. After a few moments, you quickly surrounded the large open face of the crate with the empty cardboard boxes. It felt significantly warmer and you shifted, feeling your hand hit something cold and hard. Pulling your phone out of your pocket, you shine your flashlight on whatever the object was and gasped.

It looked like a boy. A toy animatronic boy. He had plastic cream-colored skin that was smeared with dust and dirt and cracked, even broken in some places. He wore a faded blue and red striped shirt and hat, torn and broken blue pants, and was missing one old brown shoe. Parts of his small endoskeleton were exposed and rusted. His once bright cheeks were chipped and faded, the glow of his bright blue eyes long gone.

You sighed. You felt pity for the poor animatronic boy. But maybe... Just maybe... You looked at his widely open back panel and flipped a switch. Maybe he was still... Nothing. Not even a peep. You jumped back as a whirr came from him, eyes lighting up dimly and head turning to face you.

"H-H-I-I-I-I-...Hi!" His voice glitched and clipped.

A smiled graced your features

"Hey there..." Your voice was soft, almost concerned for him.

"I'm Balloon Boy! But I don't have any balloons right now!" So his voice box was still intact. Amazing. You didn't feel like pondering on how it survived so long though.

"That's okay. I came here to make sure you were okay." You touched his cheek.

"I-I-I'm fine! How are you?" His grin was eternal but heartwarming at the same time.

"I'm doing okay." You shifted to your knees. "My name is (Y/n)."

"(Y-Y-Y/N)..." He repeated. "Your name sounds pretty!"

"Thank you..." You checked outside.

"It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring!" He sang, laughing afterwards.

"Do you like to sing?" You asked, tilting your head.

"Yeah! But I never got sing w-w-with Freddy or the others." So he was an older animatronic.

"Well do you know your ABC's?" You asked him.

"A...B...Cs?...Those are letters!" He replied.

"So you don't know the alphabet song?"

"...I know my alphabet! Is there a song about it? I didn't know... Can you teach me?" He asked you.

"Of course!" You smiled. He laughed and cheered.

"Yay!"

"It goes like this..." You cleared your throat before pausing and taking a deep breath.

"A, B, C, D, E, F, G... H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P...... Q, R, S, T, U, V... W, X, Y, and Z. Now I know my ABCs, next time won't you sing with me."

You motioned with your hand for him to join you as you sang again. His voice melded with your, forming near perfect chorus-like voices in simply melodic synchronization.

"A, B, C, D, E, F, G... H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P...... Q, R, S, T, U, V... W, X, Y, and Z. Now I know my ABCs...

You let him take this last part on his own.

"Next time won't you sing with me..."

You clapped and cheered quietly for him. For once since his deactivation, the little Balloon Boy felt proud of himself. He wasn't just a useless pile of scraps after all. You heard the rain starting to ease up and smiled, but it was tinted with sadness.

"Well... It looks like it's time for me to go." You touched his cheek again gingerly.

"W-W-Will I ever see you again?" He asked.

"One day again, Balloon Boy. I promise..." You stepped out of the box, pushing away your box wall and looking out. The rain has stopped and you were ready to leave. You looked back at Balloon Boy and smiled one last time, waving him off. He nodded in response. Walking out of the alley way, your lips remained in an upturned curve as you heard little BB singing his alphabet.

When others would've walked away, you stopped, and you stayed, and you comforted him in his darkest hour. Your face... Your smile... Your voice... Something he would never forget.

"A, B, C, D, E, F, G... H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P...... Q, R, S, T, U, V... W, X, Y, and Z. Now I know my ABCs..."

He heard familiar footsteps and knew it was the owner of the restaurant coming out to investigate the noise. It was late, so who could be out here. He checked the old wooden crate. Nothing out of the ordinary, until BB looked up at him, a familiar glow in his faded blue eyes.

"Next time won't you sing with me?"
