asked me to do some concept design for a fanfiction he is writing, which involves airships, explosions, and ponies...and this thing. I'll just let you know it's an essence rod; it's used to jumpstart spell matrices (what those are...well, you'd have to read the story...*shameless plug*)

Says he: "It is discovered that earth ponies can extract, or "mine," magical essence from leylines. They store it in containers at first, then they put them in these rods to use as huge, but inefficient, batteries. It is then discovered that one can program crystals and gems with spell "programs;” thought the only spell that works is an energy creating one. The spell is housed in a special device of gems and wires known as a "Perpetual Matrix Shell," but in order for it to work, it needs a "jump start" just like a car!

"Enter your Essence Rod! It provides the energy to start/power the spell, which in turn produces more energy to replenish the Rod, but also to funnel toward an extremely large gem which, upon reaction, turns into raw magilectricity, which is channeled up the transformers and syphoned off to other devices!"

Ponies (Left to Right): Quick Fix (levetation spell, holding the matrix over a base core), Graphite (charging spell, giving the core energy), and Night Light (with the clipboard. He also happens to be Twilight's father). None are OCs - all three actually show up in the background of the show every once in a while. Oh, and Princess Celestia and Luna are watching from the balcony above...

Anyway, this is probably the most complicated thing I've ever done, and already I'm finding glitches and things I forgot to take care of...but hopefully they aren't too noticable. When the day comes that I actually post a decent piece of art we should all have a party with some flying pigs. If you care to download it, please excuse the flaws.
