I said to myself before reading the description - "Is that rarity? She looks all fancy like and I see a mound of luggage. It must be!" - Glad I was right.

I hope you don't mind it, but I think this is worth one of my "over the top" Analysis essays. 

First off, I'd like to not that the authentic look to the station is wonderful. It's the original design to the stations in the 1900s, large, shiny and fantastic looking as can be seen in this drawing. 

Next, the trains' design is magnificent. Giving it a darker colour allowed it to blend in with almost anything that you put in front of it. I think that was important due to its large size taking up much of the background. The golden decorations actually 'pop' with the design and the silver steel reminds us that it's not "100% black night fantasy". The minute details on the front of the train look quite cool as well. 

Onto the characters! Quickly running over the background characters, as you said they were inspired/resemble anime characters, yet still look authentic in the scene. (I'm taking a guess here, but is that Neku from "The world ends with you"?) 
Even rarity looks quite natural despite her outstanding outfit. Nice designing there!
I'll move away from Conductors assistant as he wears (in my opinion) bland items. However Looking over to Conductor, His uniform is quite dashing. With his dark mysterious trench coat, famous hat and goggles along with his stylish shoes, he is no less than fantastic looking and utterly astonishing in this scene. Both his tail and clothing seem to have movement rather than the dull still/droopy look. 

To sum this up, the incredible thought to colour made this image. The awesome poses and scenery really helped to touch up the scene and create an original location that would either wise be left out of the MLP world. Expressions of thought and realization captured an amount of emotion. Out of 'wonderful, this gets an 'incredible' rating from me!
